2017 Milwaukee Brewers, Back to Back Champions!

Matchups for the Cubs series:

Tonight: Hendricks vs. Anderson
Wed: Lackey vs. Nelson
Thu: Hammel vs. Guerra

No Arrieta this time around. Not that the other guys are any better to face. Or the Cubs' offense, for that matter. :)

Anderson no hitting the Cubs thru 6.

Re: 2017 Milwaukee Brewers, Back to Back Champions!

I didn't think Anderson would get the no-no, but I thought he'd get a shutout. He kind of imploded in the 9th. Impressive game nonetheless. He was really mowing them down. About an hour in, it was already the 5th inning. My mom called me afterwards and said "The Brewers beat the Cubs 4-2, and I'm still disappointed. How can that be?" :)

Cubs interested in Braun? <a href="http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/columnists/ct-ryan-braun-sullivan-cubs-brewers-spt-0518-20160517-story.html">Don't get too excited</a>, says Trib.

Re: 2017 Milwaukee Brewers, Back to Back Champions!

well, that was a fun game! Junior Guerra! Who knew?

Re: 2017 Milwaukee Brewers, Back to Back Champions!

Keon Broxton coming back up, per McCalvy. Domingo "Late Scratch" Santana to the DL.

The <a href="http://www.amazon.com/These-Walls-Could-Talk-Milwaukee/dp/162937203X">new Bill Schroeder book</a> is pretty entertaining (if you're a Brewers fan), and a quick read. Lots of stories I've never heard before, and some interesting behind-the-scenes info.

Re: 2017 Milwaukee Brewers, Back to Back Champions!

KEON!

was worth it to stay up late and see the smile on his face after his first hit.

Re: 2017 Milwaukee Brewers, Back to Back Champions!

Brewers wore throwback powder blue uniforms for Philly's "70's Night" on Friday. Promptly lose 6-3.

They try again today with the powder blue. Continue to play like the 1976 Brewers. Lose 8-1.

How about they never wear the powder blue again? ;)

Re: 2017 Milwaukee Brewers, Back to Back Champions!

Garza back on Tuesday, Peralta sent down.

I'm hoping Garza pitches well and they can dump him (and his contract and attitude) before the deadline. Just wishful thinking, as I doubt it'd happen. Should be an interesting trade season for the Brewers, though.

Re: 2017 Milwaukee Brewers, Back to Back Champions!

Now Giants are reportedly interested in Braun. But as he himself points out in the article, the trade rumors seem to be to trade him to whomever we're playing that day.

IMO, part of the issue is the Brewers don't NEED to trade Braun, and they're probably going to have to pick up some of his salary if they do - so why do it? Unless someone is really desperate. The teams they've written about also have long-term injured outfielders (Schwarber, Pence).

Lucroy has certainly upped his trade value this season. I'd be sad to see him go.

I don't think anyone currently on the roster is untouchable. How many guys are considered part of the future? Not sure Santana has cemented his status there. Nelson and Davies probably have, and maybe some of the bullpen.

Let's get cracking on those trades, Stearns. We need some excitement. And it's not gonna come on the field. :p We need to top the Gomez/Mets drama of last year.

David Stearns better be a busy man today.

Re: 2017 Milwaukee Brewers, Back to Back Champions!

What an emotional roller coaster this weekend.

:( Boo, Lucroy got traded.
:) Yay! Discounted Luc jerseys on Shop.MLB soon!
 Luc is still a Brewer!
 Dammit, his jerseys will stay full price.

:D

Re: 2017 Milwaukee Brewers, Back to Back Champions!

Will Smith to San Francisco for prospects RHP Phil Bickford and C Andrew Susac (who has seen MLB experience).

Jonathan Lucroy and Jeremy Jeffress for prospects OF Lewis Brinson and RHP Luis Ortiz.

And with that announcement, I feel some ticket holders will be traded for empty seats in the waning weeks of the season.

Sad to see Lucroy go, but getting the top pitching prospect from both the Giants and Rangers plus the #5 OF prospect in baseball (according MLB)...there is also a PTBNL involved in the Lucroy/Jeffress deal.

Makes sense to me that they should get more than just 2 top notch prospects if its Lucroy AND Jeffress.

Re: 2017 Milwaukee Brewers, Back to Back Champions!

Arcia called up. Villar to 3rd base. Perez to.... somewhere.

Re: 2017 Milwaukee Brewers, Back to Back Champions!

Potential PTBNL:
Rd-Name (Position) #MLB Texas Prospect Rank

<strike>2016 Draft picks
1-Cole Ragans (LHP) #7
2-Alex Speas (RHP) #11
3-Kole Enright (3B) #30</strike>

2015 Draft picks
2-Eric Jenkins (OF) #9
3-Michael Matuella (RHP) #15
6-Tyler Ferguson (RHP) #26
16-Tyler Phillips (RHP) #27

2014 Draft picks
3-Josh Morgan (SS) #14
4-Brett Martin (LHP) #10
6-Jose Trevino (C) #22

I did not include international prospects not on the 40-man roster...
COrrection, can't be someone from the 2016 draft.
