2017 Milwaukee Brewers, Back to Back Champions!

Re: 2017 Milwaukee Brewers, Back to Back Champions!

I see on Twitter that the guys are trying to drum up some excitement by going around the MKE Metro area and giving out free ticket vouchers on car windshields this morning.

Thank GOD they didn't do this promotion two days ago. ;)

Re: 2017 Milwaukee Brewers, Back to Back Champions!

I read this morning the Brewers cut their payroll by 45% (actual money paid out). 10 guys return from last season, 7 guys on their first opening Day MLB roster.

Wait, when did the Pohlads buy the Brewers? I missed that completely.

Re: 2017 Milwaukee Brewers, Back to Back Champions!

Well, Mark Attanasio said to have low expectations this year, and after today, they certainly have met my expectations. :p *sigh*

Bright spots... welp... Scooter had a good game (for what I saw), Capuano wasn't the complete putz I remember him being (Did I really see the graphic that said he was an 18 game winner once before?), the kids seemed okay. Eighty wins is going to be a moral victory for this team.

Re: 2017 Milwaukee Brewers, Back to Back Champions!

Is Keon Broxton ever going to get a hit?

Wait, when did the Pohlads buy the Brewers? I missed that completely.

Attanasio has said money saved this year (and probably next year) will be re-invested into the team in the future. I believe him.

Re: 2017 Milwaukee Brewers, Back to Back Champions!

Home and home series between two powerhouses this week.

Mon: Anderson vs. Hughes
Tue: Peralta vs. Santana
Wed: Milone vs. Nelson
Thu: Nolasco vs. Jungmann

Headed to Miller Park for the Thursday game. Love those day games while school is still in session. :)

Re: 2017 Milwaukee Brewers, Back to Back Champions!

Tyler Cravy sent down, word is Alex Presley will be called up today.

The Brewers were 2-13 at this time last season.

Jury still out on my new favorite Brewer. Several candidates, but no one has jumped ahead of the crowd. Maybe I should wait 2-3 years before picking one. :p

Probably be a totally different roster by then! :p

Re: 2017 Milwaukee Brewers, Back to Back Champions!

OK, how ugly is this series going to get? Please use the previous CHI-CIN series for reference. :D

Matchups:
Tue: Nelson vs. Hendricks
Wed: Jungmann vs. Arrieta
Thu: Davies vs. Lester

Brewers get out-scored eleventy-nine to two.

And Freeman's ERA balloons to $Texas.

Moral victory! :D

Arrieta today. Getting on base would be a moral victory. A quality start for Jungmann would be a SUPER moral victory.

p.s. moral victories are for losers, but if the shoe fits....

Just don't get Vandermeer'd and you'll be okay.

No Vandermeer. Jonathan Villar already has a hit, but they're down 2-0. Arrieta has not given up a run at Wrigley since July 2015.

Re: 2017 Milwaukee Brewers, Back to Back Champions!

Jungmann sent to Colorado Springs (because all pitchers get straightened out there) and Goforth called up. Who the hell is gonna start?

Re: 2017 Milwaukee Brewers, Back to Back Champions!

Answer: Junior Guerra.

Also, <a href="http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/milwaukee-latest-stop-in-baseball-odyssey-for-junior-guerra-b99716936z1-377825621.html">in case you're wondering who the hell Junior Guerra is</a>.

Freeman DFAed.

He "pitched not once but twice for the Wichita Wingnuts of the independent American Association as well as Yucatan of the Mexican League and San Marino of the Italian Baseball League". I was waiting for the California Penal League. I'm not sure if this time can get any more like Major League. :D

Re: 2017 Milwaukee Brewers, Back to Back Champions!

Matchups for the Cubs series:

Tonight: Hendricks vs. Anderson
Wed: Lackey vs. Nelson
Thu: Hammel vs. Guerra

No Arrieta this time around. Not that the other guys are any better to face. Or the Cubs' offense, for that matter. :)
