2016 Patty Kaz Award

Re: 2016 Patty Kaz Award

Desbiens ends her junior campaign in the history books as well. The Patty Kazmaier top-three finalist set three new NCAA single-season records: 21 shutouts, 0.76 GAA and .960 save percentage.

CONGRATULATIONS KENDALL!!!! She is an outstanding person off the ice and a beast on the ice. SO happy for her (just gotta say though...over all the years of hockey...she never scored with my D on the ice) :D

Re: 2016 Patty Kaz Award

Congratulations to Coyne and her NU teammates! Individual awards go to one person but they don't happen without a team.

They could have chosen either Coyne or Carpenter and not been wrong. Desbiens wasn't even the best goaltender in the country in my opinion.

I think it could have gone to Carpenter, just because Coyne couldn't get her team past BC, but Carpenter was huge in the playoffs. However, I question your statement about Desbiens. Shutout record, ridiculous GAA, who would you say is better? For crying out loud, she only gave up more than three goals four times in the entire season.

It's even better than that. Only twice did she give up more than three goals, both against Minnesota. Twice she gave up 3 goals (Minnesota/North Dakota). To say she's not the best goaltender in the country this year is preposterous.

Re: 2016 Patty Kaz Award

put 3 Gopher fans together and you'll get an argument over who should have won the 2013 PattyK
I can have an argument with myself over either 2005 or 2013. It's hard to differentiate varying degrees of "great".

(I didn't dig out the amount of overtime to figure it exactly, but off the top of my head) she had a goals-against of something like 2.25 AGAINST Minnesota.
