Re: 2016 MLB Season - Curses, foiled again?

Brandon Phillips got drilled in the finger by a Noah Snydergaard fastball last night.

To be frank, I'm surprised Phillips' finger is not broken and still attached.

That whole AB was painful. On the prior pitch he'd fouled a ball of his leg and almost had to leave the game.

I guess I made the right choice not being born with major league baseball ability. :)

Bartolo Colon, CC Sabathia, and Prince Fielder all continue to give me hope that if I wanted to, I too could still play in the MLB.

Do I have the talent to? Not a chance in hell, but their physical shape is what keeps the dream alive!

Watching Colon actually gives me more pleasure than watching Harvey, deGrom or Thor, for just that reason. I am actually more graceful than someone on a major sport roster. :)

Don't forget Pablo Sandoval.

Kris Bryant day to day with a mild right ankle sprain. No DL for now. Cubs nation likely holding collective breath.

Re: 2016 MLB Season - Curses, foiled again?

In a very late night news dump, Marlins 2B Dee Gordon suspended 80 for failed drug test.

I'm curious to know, how likely is it true what all these guys say, that they unknowingly ingested something that contained an ingredient which was on the list of banned substances? Is it just what they when they're trying to save face, or is the list lengthy and inclusive of ingredients that are found in normal protein shakes and whatnot?

We can't know for certain, but it's likely a mix of both. A lot of these guys end up going to a doctor to help keep them in shape. The doctor then says take this, it's okay for you and won't trigger any positive drug test results, but then miss something.

Marlins/Brewers game is "interesting".

who ever would have thought to say those words? ;)

Cubs and Braves rained out today. Gives him another day to heal up.

Jen is sure to be thrilled about this development.

sadly, I missed most of the game. I got in my car and started listening when Lucroy got the first hit in the 9th, and got home about the time it ended with the winning run at the plate.

Re: 2016 MLB Season - Curses, foiled again?

Arrieta gives up 2 hits and no runs and improves to 6-0 after the Cubs take down the Bucs 7-1 to take the first 2 games of their series. The guy has a good chance at 25 plus wins this season.

Re: 2016 MLB Season - Curses, foiled again?

Apparently more 'Roid Monkey suspensions are coming down the pike, although it doesn't appear that there are any big names involved.

I can't help but wonder if they have developed a new test that is catching new substances.
