No, that's where you're wrong. Because I point out how there are much more DESERVING players for a "player of the year" award and point out how this said player doesn't show up on the stat sheet (as much) against the better competition, does not degrade her work one bit. If they want to make this a "career" award, make it that and make a separate Player of the Year award and stick with it. If that was the case, absolutely give it to Greenway, but its been proven in the past it's not always a Senior award, but the best player that year. I keep having to delete comments in the post so I don't offend the pink fluffy bunnies in here. I'm still not sure what is worse tho...Greenway winning or saying Kinsel was better than Menaghin lol

Quite frankly I believe at this level its fairly difficult to distinguish against the top performers...and thats why they leave the voting up to the people who aren't fans. Yeah...you've watched Menaghin/Sheeran play 20 or more times this year, and are clearly a fan. How many times have you watch Kinsel play? Greenway? Lewicki from Adrian.
I can't really comment on the Plattsburgh players because my experience watching was the Adrian game and the first half of the Amherst game last week....unfortunately, I won't be able to watch the game today.

I've heard the rumor, as has Remy, that Kinsel was the runner-up for the award… which, in my opinion, further reinforces the idea that it is a career based award, rather than a single season award

What a joke that the most dominant player all season and top scorer can't even be the runner up for Player of the Year! What more did she need to do to be the best player of the year? Jump in a time machine two years?
Here's hoping she let's this fuel her this weekend. Especially if they make it to the final and are playing UW-RF against Kinsel.

Normally when you're runner up, that means you're 2nd...
20? Ha. Way off. How is it hard? Not in todays world.
The great players shine when the spotlight is on against the best competition. While some spotlights were bright in those games, others were more of a glow.

Player B: badly injured in final game of season and attempts to play at 50% anf still performed admirably
I didn't know that the "rumor" is that Kinsel was 2nd. It's not like they are giving the award to a random senior. Greenway was 3rd in scoring I. The nation and lead the country in goals scored, despite not really being able to play her final three games. Kinsel had the 5th number of points in the country. Both were instrumental in the success of their team and you could see that when Greenway wasn't able to play. Plattsburgh did just fine without sheerhan and Meneghin.

My mistake: USCHO confirms Kinsel was runner-up
Be upset at the coaches if you don't agree. They vote, no one else. Not SID's or Asst Coaches. I think there're more head coaches out east, so maybe the runner up stole some votes from coaches out there.

I'm just curious if you'd be crying this much if Starzyk or Winslow(?) the Middlebury player had gotten it. Or are you only this distraught because it was western players

That the best player in the division didn't win because she's a sophomore is what bothers me.
I swear to you on everything I hold dear it's not because it's a western player. Can you please give the anti-west conspiracy a rest? The West had a chance to make up half of the frozen four, with at least one spot guaranteed with a west v west quarterfinal. There's no conspiracy just because the top western team went out.

Menaghin and Sheeran were the two best players in DIII hockey THIS YEAR period. Anyone outside of them is wrong.

Player A: also taken carted off the ice in the last couple games of the season. Still played hurt, did just fine helping her team to a Conference title and NCAA playoff win.
I'm not saying Greenway is a washout, give it a break. But she didnt produce when the spotlight was brightest as much as the other two. It's great to put up points (which was still below the other two, but I'm sure you missed that too),but when and who you put them up against (proven time and time again who had better production against tougher competition).
