It'll be interesting how HC move forward. One poster recently talked about the best shooters are not as good as the best keepers in the world. I think this statement is correct.
Internationally, Raisanin, Raty, Martin, Rigsby are all studs. The Finns looked like they will turn a corner to always challenge for a top 2 finish in these tournaments. If they had 3 more Karvinins - look out.
The Lams were a big part of the US's success in this tournament. Their desire to win and sometimes dirty is amazing. They are both 27 or 28 (1989's) right now, so if your a US fan you get to enjoy them likely just a couple of more years. Once they are gone, I not sure who will replace them as the fear factor.
If you moved the Lams to Canada (they have dual - I think), the game would look a little different. I root for Canada, but I would love to have the Lams play for us in these short tourneys. I sense most of the comments come from posters who are still thinking about the Lams NCAA days. Well, most should get over that.
If the Lams played for Finland for example, the Finns could have very possibly been in the Gold medal game.
The top female goalies can play boys or men's hockey competently so they are able to handle much harder shots.
The shots they see in the girls/women's game are on average much softer due to the physiological differences between men and women. The outlying girls/women who can shoot much harder than average (eg. Hilary Knight) are also usually the big scorers.
Canada has a full stable of goalies.

Its OK, I'm an American and I hate seeing the way the Lames play. Bit of history, Sarah Davis, the recipient of goonballs crosscheck, was one of two players to back fill the holes left when the Lames left MN. The Gophers would not have won a couple of those national championships without Ms. Davis, a gritty, determined player with speed & great hockey sense. I miss watching her play.
nearly every D1 NCAA team has a top notch goalie, some have more than one
who was the goalie that ended UM 62 game winning streak and also defeated Canada in last years U22?
UND's backup goalie!
Lexie Shaw
tough to get a full time job when the team also has a 2nd team All-America and PK nominee goalie
i love sarah davis
she looks like she wants to kill somebody anytime she is on the ice
great compete level almost matching that of wickenheiser
she looks like she could fight out there too
she is not and will never be a first or second line player for the national team...but unlike her 3 fellow rookie upstarts from last year she was brought back to the team because she actually makes a concerted effort to play solid defense
her role is that of a sh*t disturber to the other team and she plays that role very well
Unlike many in the international game, she doesn't have blazing speed, so that's what keeps her from being a top-line player at that level. However, she played on the third line for most of Minnesota's perfect season as a junior, so she is willing to accept something other than a starring role, which can sometimes be an issue for all-star type teams. Her effort on defense and her ability on face-offs make her someone a coach can trust in all three zones. She's a funny kid who is very popular with teammates, which is another intangible that makes her a good fit in a place where it can be a problem if egos collide.i love sarah davis

We are talking about top notch in the world, not ncaa. Meaning the top 4-5 goalies in the world, the ones who probably can play a men's semi pro game
before putting a crown on Rigsby's head i look forward to watching her play more and seeing how she performs
maybe you are
guess which goalie Shaw beat in the U22 final?
Maschmeyer, so if she is worthy of the list then Shaw certainly is
I don't understand the Canada and East love feast with her
but given the results, I say stay on that path
the discussion was about all the high quality goal tending
they earn their way onto the national team by their NCAA play
The U 22 3 game series between the US and Canada each year is not a tournament, it is 3 games to evaluate. The US planted many Over 22's in their lineup (the Lams for example) each of the previous years to further evaluate players. So please don't call it an official U 22 tournament. Because it's not a tournament, it's a series used for evaluation.
something struck a nerve with you,
dictionary definition:
elite: a select part of a group that is superior to the rest in terms of ability or qualities.
My definition:
have separated themselves from the rest of the pack by accomplishing something the others haven't
consequently, Maschmeyer, Desbian, Chuli, Newell are not elite, they are just wannabees, even at the NCAA level
you pretty much answered your own question at the international level
I don't know who you are trying to kid, the only two teams that matter at this level is the US & Canada, apparently you are still chafing about the loss
Strong closer. That was Funny. You have a keyboard, little to no hockey experience, so you must know everything.

You're wasting your time. Pukechucker is just looking for a fight, it is his oeuvre, he is the Tintoretto of barf. He looks for things he can misinterpret or mischaracterize to start a fight & then tries to get people to roll around in the mud with him. It is a sickness that he needs to be treated for but you can't help someone that refuses help so he will remain a blight on the boards I guess.

Dude, she was 4-4 last year at ND with a .873 save %.
hopefully you do a better job of it than nevermind'erThanks for that. I'll try not to get sucked in.
and plays in the major league, instead of the minor leagues out east
hopefully you do a better job of it than nevermind'er
unlike some people here, I am not going to talk about my playing days, my officiating days, or my coaching days
but I do bring out the "best" in people, don't I? it was the same way on the ice
I just have a knack for it I guess
back to the subject
I was ahead of this conversation, saying before the NCAA season ever started, that this coming year was going to be the best ever class of goalies and goals would be tough to come by as a consequence
I was merely using an example, that talent is so high, that a backup goalie could slay the Mighty Canucks and the Annointed One
I guess that PO'd at least one of the Canucks off, and caused them to blow a cork
I guess one of my on ice talents has carried over to the connected world
Many good goalies, some not mentioned, some injured, some better than those you mentioned. In the end, it is all opinion isn't it? And you are allowed yours Pokerchoker.
Pukechucker is right about one thing - he does make everyone here better. Compared to him everyone here is way better.
