The US can't play Russia until the semifinals as neither can finish below second in their pool.

4pm EST United States vs. Canada
Winner takes 1st place in Group A

5pm EST Russia vs. Czech Republic
Czechs need a regulation win

8pm EST Germany vs. Finland
Winner avoids relegation round

Standings

Canada 3-0-0-0 9 (clinched 1st/2nd place)
USA 2-1-0-0 8 (clinched 1st/2nd place)
Slovakia 2-0-0-2 5 (clinched 3rd place)
Finland 0-0-1-1 1

Group B

Sweden 4-0-0-0 12 (clinched group winner)
Russia 1-1-0-1 5 (clinched qualification)

Note - I've put the Danes 3rd and Swiss 4th because the 1st tiebreaker is H2H; I don't know what happens if the Czechs get two points other than that the Swiss and Danes make it.

Physical game so far. Good opportunities from both teams. This is gonna be fun.

No feeling each other out today! It's all out balls to the wall every shift. I love it!

Also, Demko looking sharp early with a couple of nice saves to rob reinhart and then adjusting on that deflected shot to take us into intermission.

PP has got to pick it up or we won't beat Russia, Sweden and Canada.

Nice to survive that period with Canada getting the better of the grade A scoring chances. Demko looked real strong.

Canada hard aggressive forecheck is really testing our defense and it's ability to move the puck.

Great 20 minutes of hockey. Aside from no goals how could anyone watching that not be impressed?

The atmosphere is awesome.

1st period - Canada outplayed us and out face washed us... Then came Demko.

Canada has been noticeably more physical, and has probably outplayed the US so far, but what a fantastic game thus far for both teams.

The "stand around and watch Demko make a lot of insane saves" strategy finally back-fired for the US.
