Getting tired of hearing this every year. Drop the puck already!
And apparently believes Mankato has a "modern" arena.Nice homer slant. I'll summarize the article in a brief cliff note: Schlossman wants to cover UND games in Tempe.
A couple coats of paint, and that makes the Verizon Wireless Arena now an NCHC target? And apparently believes Mankato has a "modern" arena.

They're remodeling the Sullivan. Look out NCHC!A couple coats of paint, and that makes the Verizon Wireless Arena now an NCHC target?
Well Hell, I'll chip in a few bucks for paint at the BEC.![]()

Fellow maverick fans....I've gotten the feeling from public comments that it wouldn't be a slam dunk that msu would even go if asked to join the nchc. Am I the only one that has that feeling? Attendance is up, results are up, I'm not sure what finances really are though. Thoughts?
I think there would be a strong push to accept if asked, given that fellow In-state and NSIC rivals SCSU and UMD are NCHC, and UNO and NoDak are both closer than any WCHA school besides Bemidji. But as you note, why mess with something that's working, especially given the opportunity to schedule the other MN schools non-conference and in the North Star Cup?
Right. We have some good scheduling arrangements in the non conference. Obviously, the #1 consideration is travel costs. The wcha is definitely a bigger expense in that regard. Is that enough of a change in costs? I'm not sure it is, but I'm not certain.
One thing ive learned about schlossman, is that he focuses so much on on-ice stuff in these situations that you have to take his suggestions with a grain of salt. Take for example his insistence that the realignment was good for schools like mtu and msu since they are more competitive, all the while 8gnoring that their expenses sky rocketed. He tends to not tell the whole story in those instances.
I'm not sure the nchc would even consider msu, Bsu, mtu or bgsu. Frankly, our schools don't add much in theor historical line of thinking. We don't add substantial markets, we don't add financially to the tourney. We don't add huge fan bases. It's unfortunate, but realistically, we add a shorter trips and an additional weekend on the schedule. I love my schools, but from their line of thinking, that's the reality.
I don't have to worry about budgets, but from my perspective, I'm not sure what msu would gain outside of shorter trips either for the reasons already stated.
