2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

TJ made it sound like they are biding their time until the alps and have been since the start. He looked fairly strong today.

Seems like the smart plan. The Pyrenees started to separate the contenders from the pretenders and it certainly looks like Froome is unbeatable barring a complete meltdown or a crash. However, the battle for 2nd and 3rd is shaping up to be a war. 5 or so guys battling for two spots.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Van Garderen isn't going to attack. He isn't really a climber, he'll protect his podium placing. The annoying part will be when Contador or Nibali launch an outrageous attack from 1 or 2 mountains out and BMC chases them down, or I should say Sammy Sanchez chases.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Well that was a fun end to the stage. Really feel bad for the breakaway but what a ride by Van Avermart to grit his teeth up that hill and fend off Sagan.

I knew Bakelants would be good for something at some point! Then again, I'm so certain my team is such a trash fire that I haven't even bothered to look at the standings since about six days ago :)

Anyone else as amused as I am that Peraud rode what, 70km, with his nuts on full display? Joking aside...that was a nasty crash. Roadburnus Maximus.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Fortunately I wasn't really watching, but to have come back like he did they must be pretty big.

Dutch TV has/had an unedited post-crash photo up on Twitter. You know, in case you were interested in scoping them out.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

You know what, I think I'm good without seeing that.

I love the finish on Montee Laurent Jalabert tomorrow! Always fun.

I finally just got to the DVR after my live recording cut out maybe 0.5 km from the finish. I don't think I've sworn at my TV for quite a while. When I saw the profile of the finish, I thought for sure this would be Sagan's day. :(

However, the battle for 2nd and 3rd is shaping up to be a war.

Truth. THis is far more exciting than first place.

Oh and that crash was ****ing gross. I saw a picture that showed he was probably lucky to not lose his frank and beans on the road. He was missing skin dangerously close to his junk. I can't even imagine that kind of pain. *shuuuuuudder*

Edit: I see you guys caught that as well. :-/

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Not sure how I feel about this... NBC seems to be showing this stage delayed so I have to watch one a Eurosport stream. So no P&P (or Roll and Voigt) and yes to Sean Kelly. All that is good but the stream is bit of a hassle.

At least Peraud is riding! They just said they used a "bull clip" to fix his elbow. I'm not sure what that is but it doesn't sound pleasant.

The nbcsn feed I'm watching right now isn't live?

Oh, I guess it is. FIOS lists it as yesterday's stage to Rodez.

Now you've gone and made me mad. The first thing I hear on NBCSC is Sherwin saying: "This is playing right into the hands of Sagan." LOLWUT?

Has Paul never seen Montee Laurent Jalabert.
Pinot and Bardet and Uran and Yates are real climbers.

SRF? Swiss TV?

Yeah. The most interesting thing is how little talking the commentators do. I'd estimate they talk about a quarter as much as the two bobbleheads on nbcsn. There will occassionally be multiple minute stretches where nothing at all gets said. Personally I like it but I'll readily admit I don't like noise in general, so perhaps I'm biased :).

They have also yet to feature Tyler Farrar, so all's good on that front!

And for the triple post...it's too bad they slapped a 300m flight restriction on the tv helicopter. Could have gotten some wicked shots down in those gorges.

When they do talk which language? I'm always looking for backup for when English Eurosport isn't broadcasting race.
