2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Every time I see Sagan on the podium, all I can think is, "That bastard is going to nail at least one of those women tonight." :D

I was kind of hoping Sagan would get enough of a break to get the time bonus (although I'm not entirely sure I like them) and take the yellow. Oh well.

Tejay has a pretty good shot at Yellow tomorrow with the TTT....

No, you've misunderstood. Gerrans is hurt, I mean his riding style have him a possibly the rider I dislike most (aside from SKY) in the entire peloton.

Probert, as for the TTT the time is taken from the 5th rider, if there are fewer than 5 then its taken when the last rider hits the line. So if you have 4 and drop someone, the time ticks until he is in. In the case of a crash, the gaps could be huge... might be better to drop out for someone like Matthews (if he doesn't think he can hold wheels).
ok well according to Bicycling magazine gerrans is out so...

I love the time trials, I think this one will be especially good. I've been working on getting my girl friend to go to a few of the stages next year. So far she's ok with France, but the tour,?... maybe the last stage. If it's in Normandy next year I might have a better chance, we'll see.

Orica's got 6, I think that's the fewest and matthews is banged so they certainly do not want to drop that 5th guy.

Personally I'm not a big fan of the TTT especially long ones as it tends to favor the big $$$ teams.

25K is a nice intermediate distance though rather than sneaking closer to 50 like the days of the USPS dominance right?

I like the TTT personally. Really looking forward to tomorrow's stage especially with the chance for Tejay to be in yellow.

I've never been fan of the TTT, it overly penalizes GC guys from smaller teams in my opinion.
And Tejay is another of the riders I don't like. He does so little to animate a race, to me its like rooting for Sergi G(H)onchar. Why do you like him?

It also forces the smaller teams to make some hard choices. If you caught the interview with Alex Dowsett at the end of the stage yesterday, he said he was specifically on the team due the TTT otherwise he probably wouldn't have made the tour team. The interviews with non-Americans on set is something I like it seems to be more of a regular feature this year and they have had some good choices, of course only having 3 Yanks in the Tour means they have to look for non-Americans to interview. I realize they are handicapped in that the interviewee has to have good English skills but it's an improvement over previous years when it would be the US riders and Jens Voight they would have on set.

Good results for bmc, Movistar and sky today. Was a little surprised at how well sky performed. Was hoping Movistar and Bmc would be able to put some time on Froome today but no luck.

Looking forward to Tuesday. Expecting attacks by Rolland, Quintana and Bardet hopefully.

Basso diagnosed with testicular cancer, withdraws from Tour and goes in for surgery tomorrow.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Not that I've heard though I believe that testicular cancer is one of the most "curable" cancers out there. Apparently they found it because of his minor crash in stage 5, he's had some, err, discomfort in that area following the crash.

On the other hand, just wait for the LA like return of Robo-Basso in like 3 years... He'll be an unstoppable combo of LA, Robo-Basso, and Horner! Sorry for attempted levity in a theoretically somber post but I had to do it.

And as for tomorrow's stage, the French will attack! Il est le quatorze juillet, apres tout!
Seriously though can't see a winner outside of Froome, Conti, or Quintana.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Just putting this here:
THOMAS Geraint
5/04/2015 1.WT1 Bel 14 Ronde van Vlaanderen
29/03/2015 1.WT2 Bel 3 Gent - Wevelgem
27/03/2015 1.WT2 Bel 1 E3 Harelbeke
14/07/2015 GT1s Fra 6 Tour de France, Stage 10 : Tarbes - La Pierre-Saint-Martin
Seems Legit.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Where were the French ? I really don't hope this is the end, I'm not going to watch Thomas and Porte riding tempo for Froome for the next 10 days. Hopefully Quintana won't be satisfied and race for second like 2 years ago. The only saving Grace is that Contador, and probably Nibali will at least try for the win and not be satisfied with a podium spot.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Barguil had a good ride after the crash, but yeah, its over.
I mean Thomas drops the entire peloton, drops himself, then catches up to Piti and admits later the only reason he didn't pass him is because he was told not to. Then Porte drops everyone else, then runs down Quintana only to blow by him like he was standing still.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Is there any truth to the rumor that the Sky hack will reveal that Michaele Ferrari, Johan Bruyneel and Lance Armstrong are consultants to Sky? ;)

sure was impressive. I was looking for Rodriguez to excel, but he didn't. I have also been real impressed with Thomas throughout the entire first week. It wasn't a surprise that Nibili got dropped, but when he got dropped was. They might as well ride for Fogelsang.
