2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Tony Martin cannot catch a break...cripes. Froome passes him by 1 second for the yellow jersey.

He has another chance on the cobbles tomorrow we will see. I have seen self-neutralization's by the riders but never by the Tour itself I don't remember them doing it when Casetelli passed away and Tom Simpson was before my time.

I have absolutely no idea what to say about any of that. Christ, this has to be the worst race of the year. I'd say it was the most laughable also but it ain't easy to top the Tour of Turkey.

Edit: to lighten my mood can someone please count the amount of times nbc shows or mentions that nobody known as Tyler Farrar? Because I'm sure it's happening...

Actually XYZ, there hasn't been much Farrar talk, its all about TVG (and I mean a lot of it) and some Dawg talk.
And I agree, I'm not enjoying this race at all. I was thinking of giving up on it and following Österreich Rundfahrt, but that has been even more of a nightmare. On stage 1, Tinkov was delayed to the start of the TTT by UCI commissioners. They missed their start time by 27 sec and the race jury up held it. Then the next day they mis-calculated the leader and gave the leader's jersey to the wrong guy. Then the jury re-thought their decision on Tinkov and gave them 10 sec back. But tomorrow (I think) they do Grossglockner and Kitzbul Horn.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Fabian Cancellara finished the stage yesterday with a fractured vertebrae.

Well BMC do have Oss and Van Avermart so thats two riders who can go well. Of course Etixx has the whole team (probably except Uran). Martin has all the skills to do well too. Hoping Stybar gets it done.

EDIT:Say what you want about Cav but he is working fairly hard for Martin today.

Tony Martin saves my Tour. I was basically done with it, until Panzerwagon got it done!

All is right in the world for one day after being so cruel two days in a row. Well deserved for Tony Martin. Very happy to see him win the stage and get in the yellow.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Well played by Tony I expected him to go but also figured someone would chase him down. i new Sky wouldn't but figured one of the other teams would do it. To win on another rider's bike is pretty remarkable. Standard sprint stage tomorrow but who knows maybe the break will take it.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

That was an incredibly fun finish. So happy for Tony. If there is anyone deserving of wearing it even for a day it's him.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Also, I had zero issue with the stopping of the race yesterday. The ambulances couldn't get through and it was a horrific crash coupled by a second crash just beyond it.

It was a courageous decision and should be applauded.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Several of the guys who I root for are out.Simon Gerrans, Jack Bauer, Tony, etc. Good to see Coquard doing well, at least I can still root for him.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Speaking of riders who have retired is Adam Hansen still hanging in? I know he took at bad tumble, it would be a shame for him not to finish his 12th consecutive Grand Tour.

Tony's off my fantasy team and with Orica down guys my pick of getting points with Durbo the Turbo on the TTT look bleak. With the TTT this late in the race it bars the question, if a team has less than 5 riders going into the stage how do they record a time? Would they all be eliminated. I think Orica is down 3 guys not sure about other teams.

Look on the bright side. You could be me and have forgotten, for about the fourth time now, that they changed how the scoring is done. In which case you'd have picked a completely worthless team to begin with instead of having injuries do it in :)

At this point all I'm doing is looking forward to The Dawg eggbeating his way to perma-yellow in front of 500 million fans on Alpe d'Huez at the Silverdome, brother! /Hogan

Glad I'll be off in the (Swiss) Alps somewhere and won't have to witness it.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Maybe I'm off, but I was pretty sure he broke some bones in a crash a couple of days ago, towards the back of course. He was interviewed as he was leaving for the hospital.

No, you've misunderstood. Gerrans is hurt, I mean his riding style have him a possibly the rider I dislike most (aside from SKY) in the entire peloton.

Probert, as for the TTT the time is taken from the 5th rider, if there are fewer than 5 then its taken when the last rider hits the line. So if you have 4 and drop someone, the time ticks until he is in. In the case of a crash, the gaps could be huge... might be better to drop out for someone like Matthews (if he doesn't think he can hold wheels).

You needed to work in his 10" Pythons too. Or a "what you gonna do brother, when the 10" Pythons run wild on you?"
