2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Good think you have another day to mull it over.

Clearly your entire team should revolve around Voeckler and Zubeldia.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Well, I really wanted to play thread contrarian and work in Froome, but not liking any of the ways I did it plus the fact he will probably wet himself on the cobbles again led me to a straightforward option that had Contador, Quintana, Cav, Kristoff and Bardet. But that seemed too straightforward so I tried to come up with the best option w/Nibbles that I could. I don't think this will be a winning option, but we'll roll with it. Maybe.

Vincenzo Nibali 18
Wilco Kelderman 10
Nairo Quintana 22
Romain Bardet 12
Mark Cavendish 12
Daniel Teklehaimanot 6
Luke Durbridge 4
Jan Bakelants 6
Nacer Bouhanni 10

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

C'mon, I just re-did my team and I think for the first time I have a Trek member and its Haimar.

Quite a few years ago when I had my best showing in Velo Games, I had Haimar, it was the year he finished 5th or 6th, plus he's cheap and I assume he's the second choice for Trek behind Bauke. I've got two Tinkoff and two Lotto, I'm sure since I didn't pick him Geesink will tear it up but he was too expensive to take a flyer on since he always seems to crash out.

I'm still debating whether or not to drop Sagan and take Cav, I'm pretty sure the Velo games points rewards wins more than green jersey so while I figure Sagan will win the green jersey without Kittel, Cav should get 3-5 stage wins, barring a crash and may end up doing better points wise. Plus personally I really like Sagan and don't like Cav

I figure its lock that Haimar will finish Top 10-15 and we'll never see him on the screen. Its what he does. As for Cav v. Sagan, I'm 90% sure the re-did the way the points are given out and it favors stage wins, not seconds or intermediate sprints.

And my edited team:

Contador
Valverde
Quintana
Martin
Cavendish
Quinziato
Zubeldia
Durbridge
Degenkolb

I think its balanced: 2 GC guys, 2 guys for the first week hills, 2 TT guys, 2 sprinters (and one for the pave), and Haimar.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

In the its July, there must be a doping discussion (not involving Sky, subsection), Lars Boom has high cortisol levels and according the MPCC must be withdrawn and since the DS meeting already happened, Astana aren't allowed to sub Vanotti in. Vino then demanded that he be allowed to enter Vanotti or Boom would start. Since they aren't letting Vanotti in, it seems Boom will start and Astana will join the exodus out of the MPCC. It will be hilarious when Boom wins the pave stage again.

JFC!.

I think this will be one of the more interesting tours. I hope we don't have the carnage we had last year though.I wonder about Contador's legs. I'd think Garmin sharp has a good chance, but history is not on their side. anyway, should be great.

Modified Team Ten Dam and Sagan out Cavendish and Bardet in

Impressive ride by Rohan to upset Cancellara and Martin.

Kelderman and Gesink looked like the top GC times. Nibali was fastest out of the big 4 with Contador, Froome and Quintana all pretty close together.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

I'm not sure that I really consider Kelderman and Gesink to be GC guys. Kelderman hasn't really shown that he can do it in a Grand Tour and Gesink hasn't shown he can climb in like 3 years. Its the same with with NBCSC trying to convince me that Van Garderen is a MJ threat. Also 1 day with P&P and I'm already thinking about streaming Eurosport. I'm really not fan of them or the hero-worship of Voight.

On to more positive things...PLEASE WIND! MAKE ECHELONS HAPPEN!

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

You got your wish! Three echelons have formed with TJ, Froome and Contador in the front. Nibali in the second and Quintana really in trouble back in the third.

Going to be an exciting finish today. Cance, Martin in front group with a chance to take over yellow tonight.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Cavendish is frustrating....I hate it when he sits up after he isn't going to win. Exact reason why he'll never win a green jersey.

Etixx mistimed the sprint and left Cavendish isolated too far out allowing Greipel, Sagan and Cancellara to all get past him. He also cost his teammate the yellow jersey as Cancellara snuck into the last time bonus position which puts him in front of Martin.

If Cav finishes out the sprint he's definitely third place if not second and Martin is in yellow.

Stage had all the fireworks people were hoping for. Quintana and Nibali lost 1:30 on Froome and Contador.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

No matter what Cav says it clearly looks like he eased up after Greipel passed him. Maybe he didn't know that Canc was coming but he denied his team the jersey going into Belgium and probably keeping the jersey for 3-4 days. It doesn't help Cav that Tony's a class act while he comes off as a d**k a lot of times.

I still look at it as a 4 man race with 10-12 guys, Peraud, Pinot, TJ, Valverde, Mollema, Geesink, Kellerman, Uran, Ten Dam, Purito and Bardet fighting for the 5-10 spots.

He was too busy throwing his lead out and Renshaw under the bus.

There is no doubt he's a talented bike rider but pretty much every year I watch the TdF, I dislike him more and more because he acts like a 10 year old that didn't get his way when he doesn't win the stage.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Unprecedented. Rumor is that they had no ambulances left. But consider when Wouter Weylandts died in the Giro a couple of years ago, they didn't stop the race.

Of course there was the Railroad incident at P-R this year, so there is that.

P.S. My previous post was at thinly veiled shot at Cance for the neutralization on the Cote de Stockeu a few years ago.

EDIT: P&P don't seem to realize that Cote de Cherave was in FW this year. Also got a bad feeling that Dawg wins this sprint.

Tony Martin cannot catch a break...cripes. Froome passes him by 1 second for the yellow jersey.
