2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

XYZ I agree that Porte's statements are weird, but I think he is out of contract this year. A Strong GC in the Giro would command a much bigger payday. So if he has "earned" the right to lead a team he gets more Euros than, well, whatever this Giro makes him.

.

They noted at the end of the stage that Landa's contract is up this year as well Tinkoff or Movistar bound?

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Movistar I could see but I've read some that when Alonso was going to buy EE with Contador as team leader, there was some bad blood between Landa and 'Berto. Plus Landa didn't seem apologetic at all about going full gas while the Rosa had a mechanical and Tinkoff seemed put out over the whole thing. But lets be realistic, he'll end up at Sky.

I mentioned it earlier but today's ride reminded me of Pantani in '99 at Oropo.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

I entered the contest to win a ride in the mavic team car during the tour. Should be fun for someone.
Interesting interview with Tinkoff in Velo news.
My training partner hit a goose on his bike a few days ago. it was walking, believe it or not. He was going downhill at about 35 mph. Injuries sustained: 6 broken ribs, punctured lung, broken wrist, serious concussion, left hip broken in three places and he now has a new hip. Remembers very little. Passerby saw it and called 911.

Well rufus it looks like we are separated by less than a wheel at the moment for USCHO honors!

Any of you guys making the trip to Richmond to watch the worlds later this summer?

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

I'm coming for you.

Landa and Kruisjwijk have been carrying my team. My Bardiani boys have done nothing. If only I'd gone for Visconti or Amador.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

All my guys up there, and the one guy who couldn't win, for me to get the best results, wins.

Still, I've got seven guys left on my fantasy team, and six of them finished in the top 17, including 3,4,5,and 6

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Don't understand Astana's tactics yesterday, they had Landa up front with a chance, albeit slim, to take the win yet they seemed to think that Zakarin should somehow take pulls at the front to help them out. Then they drop him back where they expect Uran to take pulls to help out him and Aru, I understand why Heyzedal and Kreuzweic were taking pulls to maybe get the mountains jersey and move up a couple of places overall.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Said today that they were expecting Contador to crack completely, and brought him back with Aru to secure the 1-2 spots. If Conti had cracked, they would have had those anyway, so I guess they really wanted the Italian at the top of the podium.

Look for Landa to go elsewhere next year.

While the Dauphine and the Tour de Suisse (which starts in a couple of hours with a prologue) are good for nothing more than the TdF hopefuls playing kissyface with each other, some incredible scenery, and someone like Talansky or Van Garderen duping everyone into actually believing they're legitimate contenders...

...how about that breakaway in yesterday's Dauphine stage? Valverde, Nibali, Costa, Gallopin, Martin. And lots of rain. Yikes. Costa took the stage, Nibali the race lead, and I still can't even set eyes on egg-beating Froome without laughing. Christ.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Velo games is open

League Name: USCHO
League Code: 28114757

It appears as if this league code also will let you join Jack v Jon

So does anybody think we will get a winner from somebody other than the 3 Big Dawgs, to use Titleists terminology, Froome, Contador and Nibali or the little Dawg Quintanna? barring crash outs or a horrible day? I have to give Purito an outside shot due to the lack of time trials and the fact that katusha did pretty well in the TTT for the Giro and Dauphine. I guess we will see on Sat how much he loses in Stage 1.

Looks like Kittel is out. and the Galibier is also out of Stage 20 due to a landslide blocking the road.

My team, subject to change

Alberto Contador Tinkoff - Saxo
Vincenzo Nibali Astana Pro Team
Laurens Ten Dam Team LottoNL-Jumbo
Pierre Rolland Team Europcar
Peter Sagan Tinkoff - Saxo
Luke Durbridge Orica GreenEDGE
Haimar Zubeldia Trek Factory Racing
Tony Martin Etixx Quick Step
Wilco Kelderman Team LottoNL-Jumbo

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

I really don't see a winner outside of the Big 4.

This British National Championship has been fabulous to watch! Cav is amazing!

My team subject to change.
Alberto Contador
Alejandro Valverde
Nairo Quintana
Dan Martin
Mark Cavandish
Benoit Vaugrenard
Zdenek Stybar
Luke Durbridge
Nacer Bouhanni (But his crashed at the death of the French Championship today so he may be out and T. Martin may be in or another sprinter).

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

My team currently.

Alberto Contador, Saxo-Tinkoff
Rui Costa, Lampre
Nairo Quintana, Movistar
Romain Bardet, AG2R
Peter Sagan, Saxo-Tinkoff
Tony Martin, Etixx-Quickstep
Manuel Quinziato, BMC
Luke Durbridge, Oricca-Greenedge
Luke Rowe, Team Sky

Bouhanni says he's likely out. Which means it's time to reevaluate my velogames plans.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

Saw something from Nacer today that he was now optimistic about starting Le Tour. Damage was just superficial.

Made some changes to my team to pickup Van garderen, but had to drop Sagan in favor of Cavendish. Cav for 12 seems like a bargain this year. Unless Bouhanni ends up riding and I can switch to him as my sprinter and then dump one of my 4 point guys for a 6 pointer.

Re: 2015 USCHO Cycling Thread

I have absolutely no clue what to do with my team. Great.
