2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

I don't know about school field trips, but the sports marketing department at Minnesota strenuously courts local youth hockey associations. At any given game, there are at least two sets of teams in attendance. Today, girls from Chaska-Chanhassen took to the ice for the introductions, wearing stupendous green and purple jerseys. They were fabulous, reminding me a bit of the ones the Slovenian men wore in the last Olympics.

As opposed to BC, I took the girls team that I coach to BC yesterday. Despite emailing ahead, there was no communication or recognition of the visiting girls youth team. BC had a "skate with the Eagles" scheduled, but there could have been much more done. The night before at the Merrimack game, there were two youth players on the ice for the announcement of the teams. The youth players were introduced and skated out when introduced. During the game, the entire visiting youth team was recognized.

Yeah, this is fair. The players themselves are great when you're out on the ice (though you do have to encourage the kids to go up and say hi to them), but the organization could make more of it.

Which team are you with? My D is with the New England Pride U10s, they had a few kids there and had a good time though nothing particularly structured.

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

But yeah Wednesday night deadline this week

I'm not sure I'm going to wait, BC will beat Harvard like eggs for a souffle and even if Q loses to BU, BU won't be in and I won't drop Q.....so my only reason to wait is if BC doesn't get their eggs on the bowl at all I will make UW #1. It's worth waiting for, I hate making BC#1, more than UM.

You could always post two rankings, one for if Result A happens and one if Result B happens

I'm guessing we'll have fewer entries this week with less time between games but it is what it is. People can submit rankings now and if any surprises happen they can change after the fact if they want

How generous of you, you make it hard to hate BC sometimes....

1. BC
2. UW
3. UM
4. Q
5. UND
6. Clarkson
7. BSU
8. NE
9. Princeton
10.Colgate

If BC loses... ;)
1. UW
2. UM
3. Q
4. UND
5. Clarkson
6. BSU
7. NE
8. Princeton
9 .Colgate
10. Harvard
11. BC

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

1. Boston College
2. Wisconsin
3. Minnesota
4. Quinnipiac
5. Clarkson
6. Northeastern
7. Bemidji State
8. North Dakota
9. Princeton
10. Colgate

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

I think NU and Clarkson are on the rise.

1 BC
2 UW
3 UM
4 QU

Those I'm pretty sure about.

These I could be persuaded to put in almost any order:

5 Clarkson
6 NU
7 BSU
8 NoDak

9 Princeton

Pretty confident in #9.

I don't know what to do about #10. Harvard feels like they should go here but even though they are playing good teams lately they're losing. I guess I'll go with Colgate and their 3 losses, even though they just lost to Harvard. I just think their recent body of work has slightly been better.

10 Colgate

Of late, Harvard scores about as often as Brown does.

This is true but their last 10 games have been against NU, UMD, UMD, Princeton, QU, Cornell, Colgate, SLU, Clarkson, and BC.

And it doesn't get much easier with its next 4 against Dartmouth, QU, Princeton, and BC.

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

1. Boston College - a bit of a letdown this week... be careful Eagles
2. Wisconsin - they really got after BSU in that second game
3. Minnesota - not sure what to make of their Minn State series... something wrong?
4. Quinnipiac - even if they lose to BU... which could happen
5. Bemidji State - if they played in the east, they'd be a top team (would love to see BSU vs QU)
6. North Dakota - ditto (and QU vs ND)
7. Clarkson - turning it on
8. Northeastern - thrashing some middle of the pack teams (much credit for the thrashing)
9. Princeton - steady eddie and big round of applause for staying in the top 10 this long
10. Minn-Duluth - Tough, tough schedule. They stay in most games against ranked teams. I think they can beat Colgate, and Harvard can't continue to be ranked on reputation alone.

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

1. Wisconsin -- they have that loss, but overall have been that bit more convincing than BC
2. BC -- still messing with the lines, haven't yet worked out how to make the most of their depth, but have been more convincing than Minnesota, especially recently
3. Minnesota
4. Quinnipiac
5. Northeastern -- COYNE SMASH
6. North Dakota -- that Syracuse loss ties with the NU loss to Lindenwood as the most baffling of the year
7. Bemidji
8. Clarkson
9. Princeton
10. Er, Colgate I suppose. Could conceivably be Harvard, but I like them even less.

If the Joker ever fields a team those nightmares will be what they wear! ;)

Our daughter's team went twice& I hated it. They had to get all suited up for 2 minutes of ice time. That means dragging their bags around all night. But the girls were excited so I guess it was ok for them.

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

Here is a Haiku themed top ten poll.

1. BC
- Carpenter is key.
- But don't forget Skarupa.
- Who will beat this team?
2. Wisconsin
- Johnson has the depth.
- Gopher series looming large.
- Eagles for it all?
3. Minnesota
- In a funk it seems.
- Brandt and Kessel reunite?
- Third seems about right.
4. Quinnipiac
- Shining stars near bright.
- Reach the top just like the men.
- A chip and a chair.
5. North Dakota
- Have they found their groove.
- Head scratcher losses behind.
- Nickname is still lame.
6. Bemidji
- Badgers give them fits.
- Off course from what they do best.
- Need Mowat to rise.
7. Clarkson
- Could they be that team.
- Senior Knights time to shine
- Show them no Mercer.
8. Northeastern
- Coyne and company.
- Offense is what they do best.
- Will that be enough?
9. Princeton
- Tigers sneaky good.
- Games ahead will be a test.
- How high can they climb?
10. Colgate
- Freshmen lead the way.
- Hard not to think of toothpaste.
- Pairwise not their friend.
