2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

The Beavers are 0-6-0 against Wisconsin and Minnesota, 17-1-2 against everyone else (including 2-1-1 vs. UND). We'll see what they can do against the Gophers this week.

Thanks, and meanwhile, UND has lost to Ohio State, Syracuse and UMD. Their shining moment was a victory over Minnesota. No excuses, but wasn't Minn short players that day?

I have Bemidji higher than UND by the slightest margin.

Also, UND has a win and a tie against Wisconsin in December, as well as two very well played, tight games against Wisco last weekend.

OK OK OK. So I understand those who put UND slightly ahead of BSU. Either way, it's very close. Thank you!

1 UW
2 BC
3 UM
4 Quinnipiac
5 UND
6 Northeastern
7 MIDJ
8 Clarkson
9 Princeton
10 Harvard or Colgate or St Lawrence... er, Harvard.

That makes a good case for Bemidji being #4 and ahead of Q/NU/Clarkson.

So let's look at Q. The BSU games against UW and MN are unmatched at Q. BC would be in that same tier, but they've not played. Frankly outside of UND, nobody has beaten BC, UW or MN and so they really are in another league. One could make the argument that MN doesn't qualify, but even after the single L...the defending national champions are frightfully loaded.

So then its BSU 17-1-2 vs. Q 20-1-4. And the Q loss was to Yale, while the one BSU loss to UND - who also beat MN and tied UW. So for BSU if you eliminate the 6 games against UW and MN, one would expect BSU's KRACH SOS to drop to close to Q's 16 SOS. Putting them as comparable. So the remaining question is whether BSU would go as 'bad' as 3-0-2 in its next 5 games against teams (not names BC, UW or MN). Seems unlikely.

I could get on that bandwagon. At this moment, it looks to me like teams are in these three tiers (no particular order within tiers):

Championship Tier (likely to win in all): BC, UW, UM

"Miracle" Tier (1980 Olympic run required): QU, BSU, UND

Spoiler Tier (they can screw up someone's plans): Clarkson, Northeastern, Princeton, UMD, Harvard, Colgate

Interesting bracket based on poster's poll:
BC vs Clarkson
UW vs Bemidji
UM vs NE
Q vs UND

BC and UM have the easiest draws.

I was paroosing the stats page and Q seems to be the eastern equivalent of UW.

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

Switch NE and UND then the second Western series gets interesting.

And boring. I don't want to play BSU again in the ncaa's from interest level. I'd like to see an eastern team in Madison. I'd rather avoid inter-conference matchups until the title game, but if the wcha gets 4 teams that will be impossible. BSU and UND have chances to strengthen their spots playing the rodents the next 2 weeks. I almost want to to see the rodents sweep these teams and push them out of the top 8 to get more eastern teams in. Or if the rodents can drop to #4, that gives them BC in the semis and that will give UW BC in the final, which is my goal. I'm so torn.

Minnesota not given much of a chance...Again, I like it.

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

I would be kind of surprised to see either UND or BSU make it, not because they aren't as good as the eastern teams at the bottom but because they have a much tougher road with more probable losses in their way.

If the season were to end today, though, you'd get your wish with that eastern team coming out (if you consider Mercyhurst eastern, anyway). The Top 7 in the PWR plus the CHA champion would be:

1 BC
2 UW
3 UM
4 QU
5 CU
6 NU
7 PU
8 MC

Which gives a bracket of:

1 BC vs. 7 PU
2 UW vs. 8 MC
3 UM vs. 6 NU
4 QU vs 5 CU

If the CHA champion is Syracuse or RIT (lol), then Cuse/RIT would go to BC and Princeton would go to UW.

7 PU
.

Fascinating that Princeton would be in ahead of UND or BSU as of today. Remember, I hate math.

And what you end up with is mn/wi semi and an east/west final. It would be more interesting to send 3&4 from each side to 1&2 on the other just to compare but that will not happen
