Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

This from my first weeks picks...

1> BC - Talented...No doubt about it. Someday they're going to put it all together, right?
2> Minnesota - Probably be ranked differently if I had money on it.

Not exactly the most serious effort at it as I even forgot #8, but Minny at 2 is a bee in the bonnet for someone so...
Ranking from a preschooler who has no concept of women's college hockey. Not a problem as we just went with ranking the nicknames and due to attention span issues we could only rank the top three teams. They are as follows...

1> Gophers
2> Eagles
3> Badgers

4> Clarkson - They played...Harvard didn't.
5> Harvard - See above. "Crimson" would not have done well in the preschooler poll of nicknames
6> BU - Didn't overwhelm but also didn't lose. "Terriers" would have done well in the preschooler poll.
7> Bemidji - A coin flip winner with North Dakota for 7 & 8 and the "Beavers" would have probably been #4 in the preschooler poll of nicknames.
8> UND - Unlucky coin flip and also worth noting that without a nickname they wouldn't have fared very well in the preschooler poll.
9> Quinnipiac - "Bobcats" would have probably been 5th or 6th in the preschoolers nickname poll.
10> Northeastern - This could have just as easily been Ohio State

Friendly reminder that the poll deadline is Tuesday evening this year -- so get those votes in!

That includes you, TTT20...

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

Alrighty here goes:

1) Minnesota -- Surprisingly close game against PSU and then one that wasn't close.
2) Boston College -- Two games against UMD that could either have been great or meh.

3) Clarkson -- Gonna be great this year
4) Harvard -- Starts playing in, what, four months or something
5) Wisconsin -- Top 5 all hold steady from my first ranking. Still shaking my head at Wisconsin willingly playing Providence. Great job guys.

And everyone else was less than impressive:

6) Bemidji State -- Vermont shouldn't be good this year... how did BSU they only win by 1?? Hockey East clearly the best conference IMO based entirely on this weekend series.
7) BU -- Managed to sneak by Chuli, but only barely.
8) NU -- Dropped them from #7 because of the SLU tie last weekend vs. BU's and BSU's sweeps this weekend.
9) North Dakota -- Cool series against RPI bro
10) Quinnipiac -- Just barely better than Mercyhurst this weekend, so they get the spot.

Honorable mention: Mercyhurst, and Penn State who despite getting swept by UM I have high hopes for.

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

As an aside -- Despite no one in the USCHO top ten losing, almost every game was really really close besides the BC and Minnesota games. I think crazy parity might be the name of the game this year.

The Wisconsin/Providence series wasn't at all close. Digging into the box scores a bit, the Bemidji, North Dakota, and Clarkson sweeps look fairly lopsided. Colgate outscored Robert Morris 11-3, though that's a bit of lopsidedness that could speak for parity rather than against.

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

Agreed. The UW / Providence games sure weren't close! Coach Johnson rolled all 4 lines all weekend.. In the game Saturday the Badgers only gave up 3 shots on goal over the last 2 periods of a very lopsided 8-1 win.. They did EXACTLY what they were supposed to do last weekend which was WIN BIG..

 Other than taking Katie Crowly's word for it, please explain how you can possibly justify this statement. If my math is correct, WCHA teams were 13-3 in all non-conference games this past weekend, whereas Hockey East went 2-6-1 (congrats to BC for notching their only two wins). Against Hockey East only in head-to-head games, the WCHA was 6-2.

Of course one weekend does not make a season, but "based entirely on this weekend series" one cannot come to the conclusion that "Hockey East clearly the best conference".

You will have to excuse TTT. He has a BC education, so he is sometimes confused by large words such as "best".

Well to be fair 2 WCHA wins and HEA loses were the St Cloud-Mack series. And While Mack apparently held leads late they are a glorified club team. And 2 more were Wisco-Providence which TTT views as a slightly more glorified club team.
