2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

I've started to compile the spreadsheet for this, so if anyone makes any change to their poll, if they could either tell me or just make a new post, that would be most appreciated

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

I've reached the conclusion that UMD is going to have a really rough year due to a new coaching staff and losing a ton of last year's scoring. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I'm wondering if the loss of Miller might help the team focus more on North Dakota in Bemidji. I think Shannon might have viewed the Gophers as her white whale and that cost the team around the rest of the league If that happens I would see them finishing third or fourth in the WCHA and I think The Who would be the losers in that equation. As ARM said a lot of people suggested the roster was going to empty out with Miller departure and that hasn't happened. We might expect a new attitude out of that team and hopefully it will be a good one and make the entire race a lot more interesting this year.

Since a CHA team gets an autobid, any poll that ignores this fact is flawed

and shouldn't there be a rule against posting Utube videos of musical acts from the last century, especially when half of the members are dead, and a third may as well be, artistically (no matter how much talent he may have had when he was relevant)
and the fourth, well who cares? back then he was even the weak link

You didn't think this last year lol. Last year you went with everyone else and chose, as most do, who you thought the ten best teams in the country are.

I think we all would agree that the selection committee chooses the tournament field based on a certain criteria, not necessarily who the 8 best teams in the country are.

But regardless of how you now are deciding to look at the poll, you gotta give me an actual team for number 8. No wussing out!

The funny thing is it isn't exactly ludicrous to think a CHA team might end up in the top 8 anyway. Mercyhurst wasn't too far off last year and they should have something of a mild return to form this year. Also I have optimism for PSU. The thing is from like 7th down to the TUC line it's all very tight. Anyone who gets hot early can climb up.

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

I'm giving some preseason love to RIT. I blissfully no nothing about how good the team will be this year, but they have some fans, they had a major donor step up doing the off season, and they've had good recent postseason success. So for a place with hopefully a little women's hockey momentum-"Go Tigers!"

The Who didn't have any weak links :)

if MN JV isn't a valid pick, I'll go with Northeastern as my #8

10) Penn State

Everyone after Clarkson has major question marks and by the end I'm just throwing out names at random. It just seems like there is an extraordinary amount of fluidity from 5 to 15 this year.

33) 50 cents on Minnesota State being better than last season! ;)
32) And does anybody else believe there will be 31 teams better than UNH?

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

Boy, you'd think with 4 of BC's top 6 scorers being seniors, including both Carpenter and Skarupa, that this could/should be their year. But the Gophers lose just 3 players (although solid) and pick up All Canada Potomak and All Minnesota Williamson while aging everyone else a year. I don't know that this is the best Gopher team, but could it be the deepest?

All of this basically. Minnesota scares the hell out of me.

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

The Gophers lose four. Sure, Sletta almost never got to play, but she performed her role flawlessly and was a positive influence in the locker room. There were numerous games where she was one goalmouth collision away from being the most important player on the team, so although she wasn't a regular, I don't think she can be ignored altogether. As for the other three being solid, I think they were better than that. All three topped 100 points in their careers, and when you look around the country, there aren't as many of those players as one would think. As far as Minnesota rosters go, you could probably list Lorence under solid, but Bona and Ramsey were Kazmaier finalists, Ramsey being a two-time WCHA Defensive Player of the Year, so solid is an undersell. Minnesota is the favorite at this point, but like everyone else, it has questions to answer.
