2015-2016 Division I Women's Hockey Scores & Results

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Women's Hockey Scores & Results

Valiant, never.give-up attitude by UNH but in the end, their D is too porous....CU a 6-4 winner....possibly an attitude adjustment game for UNH, there are problems but at least the grittiness is back!

Minnesota leads UMD 1-0 after 1. Shots are 10-5.

Now 5-1 after two. Gophers making their shots count today - margin is just 19-11.

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Women's Hockey Scores & Results

UM seems to be absolutely insane in the 2nd period

They get into these feeding frenzies where, with the long change, opponents simply can't get players to the bench. It hasn't been as pronounced as last year, when there were multiple times that teams were forced into 2-3 minute shifts because they couldn't even freeze the puck.

That said, I wasn't especially impressed with their second period today. They scored four times, but there were also stretches where they were handing the puck away and getting stuck in their own zone. They were certainly the better team, but held against the standard of what they can do in the second, I've seen better, including yesterday.

Sounds like we both had similar series' against UMD

St Cloud State and UND tie at 4 (St Cloud takes shootout).

SCSU scores 4 goals on 11 shots.
Molly Illikainen with three of those for the hat trick.

But they blew a 4-1 lead as UND scored 3 extra-attacker goals in the final 5 minutes of regulation. (And, technically, UND's first goal was also an extra-attacker goal due to a delayed penalty on the Huskies in the second period.)

So I left out a few irrelevant details :p

BTW-Shelby Amsley Benzie was not in goal.

This was the first game I've been to in over a year. I didn't watch a single women's game last season which is sad but I had personal reasons that kept me away. I'm sad to see the officials are still as horrible as I remembered. Horrible called game but UND gets a ton of credit for pulling their tender so early and scoring those goals to tie it up.

Minnesota up 1-0 on North Dakota five minutes in on a goal by Caitlyn Reilly. It was a nice semi-breakway finished with a nice shot. Interesting that it's Garzone taking Potomak's spot on the Brandt/Cameranesi line.

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Women's Hockey Scores & Results

Kate Schipper makes it 3-0 after a wild scramble. It came just after UND had their first real pressure of the game.

Leveille made a couple of very nice saves to keep UND off the board when the Gophers were caught running around a bit toward the end of the period. Right after that Schipper got her goal, which had to be a bit deflating for the Team in Pink.
