This may be a stupid question but why is the same age group U19 on the girls side and 18U on the boys?

Because the Boys have Juniors (U20) and the girls do not. And so the girls can play until they graduated HS. You could be a 95 in u19 this year and a senior in HS, probably most likely in New England where they repeat a year. I think most 95s are a soph in college this year. Why is it that the Boys can enter college hockey at 21years and have not lost any eligibility? Where as the girls start losing eligibility 1 year after they have graduated from HS. Seems they should have the same timeline rules. Title 9?

US and Canada juniors are 20U. Internationally it is U20.

Here's my pondering. U19 means that players under 19 years of age are eligible (I.e. 18 yrs old is the top age).
18U's means that anyone 18 yrs old and younger is eligible.

They mean the same thing - don't they?

A bit of an obfuscation. U19 is "under 19" whereas 19U is "nineteen and under." So U18 and 19U are different. Meanwhile, I ain't got nothin' to report on the 2015-16 Committment front!

You don't have to be that close. Dad played for Maine, is major fundraiser and donor for the school, is in the Maine hockey hall of fame, and won the Black Bear award for service to U of M. Real question is why she committed to Brown in the first place (other than the obvious academic edge to Brown).

I wouldn't say that Maine is better academically than Brown but it's closer than a lot of people think. Brown is a classic case of how the best way to look good in most of the ranking systems is to admit students who are already smart and well educated. Actually teaching them while they are there isn't actually that important, especially in the U.S. News rankings; those are very gameable and Brown is a master at it.

Because it's stupid to judge the quality of a university by the quality of the students it admits, rather than the job it does educating them once they are there. And yet, that overwhelmingly IS the way we evaluate universities.
