Re: 2015-16 Oswego State Lakers Hockey #LakePlacidOrBust #NoMoreDrivesToAdrian #GoLak
Just as I attempted to post the other night, Oswego reminds me a lot of a Plattsburgh team a few years ago who also started 1-3-1. A team that was clearly better than their record was. While Oswego's record may be 1-3-1, this is NOT a sub .500 team. The first team that walks in thinking that will find themselves on the short end of the stick and probably embarrassed. WHEN Oswego decides to work hard, put forth the effort, and work hard they look like the Top 10 DIII team they are supposed to be. Unfortunately there is A LOT of talent on that team that doesn't always work as hard as they can/should. Losing to Plattsburgh is bad enough. At home, in overtime, blowing not 1 but 2 2-goal leads including 1 in the third....after all the build up that is a HUGE emotional let down. Then you get a frustrating Potsdam team the next night who you dominate from the drop of the puck but at the end of 20 minutes not only have you not scored, but now you're down by 1. Next thing you know you give up another "garbage" goal from Potsdam simply outworking Oswego, boom now you're down 2-0....and then you lose composure.
People might not like this answer, but I don't think "talent" is the issue. Someone(s) need to step up and become a leader on the ice and in the locker room. Sure I've seen Plattsburgh come from behind pretty much all season so far, but twice? In Oswego? I'd love to say Plattsburgh "won" that game, but I'm not so sure Oswego more "lost" that game. And then the next night to get frustrated against Postdam....seems more of a locker room leadership issue to me. Just as I said years ago with Plattsburgh, if they (Oswego now) were being outplayed and the talent wasn't there I'd be more concerned. Anyone who wants to see Oswego down the road, especially in the playoffs, needs their heads examined.
I think Oswego is a dangerous team right now, they certainly have something to prove, and I'm SURE Gosek has been running them very hard in practice lately
