Salvaged the weekend with the win over Brockport. Neil has looked great. Botten line should be fine. The interesting thing is Waterstreet centering, Herlihey and Hulsof. The tower of power has played well but has struggled at the dot and doesn't look to be great fit there. They tried Barton in that spot for the exhibition game, but didn't like what they saw. Any suggestions for the center for line 2?? Perry or Berry whatever the rookie name is, has looked very good. PP and PK have not been good enough. Lot's of questions on D, what have a good read on that until Raguseo comes back. Thoughts.

To me the steadiest defenseman so far has been the big rookie Kristoffer Brun. He has made some mistakes but he also mops them up pretty good. He has been playing with Johnson who has been very erratic so far. As for the center on the Hulshof Herlihey line, who else is a natural center other than Waterstreet, Botten and Barton? Maybe put Berry or Boyd out there with them, or Sneath. Honestly though, yes Chris has struggled in the circle, so have the rest, but Herlihey was a bit off most of the night until the last 10 minutes or so. I think that is what kept that line from clicking. I would give them at least a few shifts at Cortland before I make any changes. When they start finding the back of the net the Botten, Neil, Galati line is going to be the go to trio though. And that should take some of the pressure off Hulshof and Herlihey to perform.

Not a bad weekend, whats up with Raguseo,injury?? The D looked better than expected,and Offense takes longer to get going at the begining of the season. As for Watrst,I like his game except for the draws,think he is to high up to get the puck fast.I am sure coach G will try many line combos,wouldnt mind seeing Adams with davis and the BIG guy.We missed the net a ton, but i think again begining of the season stuff.Hope it just that time will help the special teams,CANNOT afford the SHG's in any game,especially vs Genny,Platty etc,they r KILLERS.SHould be a tough tilt vs Cort,they gave Genny a pretty good game and got a tie...My feed or computer I think its the latter was very bad,so couldnt comment to much on individual play.

The Brockport game wasn't a bad game for us but we let the game be to close. Same issues as last year. Just a couple of observations that I saw and liked. Brun played a nice game. Yes he had some mistakes but so didn't all of them. Berry and Boyd looked good for Freshmen especially Berry. The Adams line looked to be the best line the whole game for us. Herlihey, Hulsof and Waterstreet was a weird line to see. It could be a very good line for WS and Herlihey aren't afraid of the corners or boards and could pop pucks out for the sniper Hulsof. Time will tell here. Small roster and health will be key this year.

Interesting game tonight at Cortland - given their draw with Genny, can't be taken lightly...actually not sure you can take anyone in this league lightly...strong road performance tonight and another week of practice to set up Whiteout/Homecoming weekend - Platty and Potty will both be tough.....who's coming to Oz?

Ugh...43 shots, 2 goals....hot goaltender, some puck luck (Digby term) and we come up short....4-2 with a softie (2?) and eng. have to be better next wknd!

Missed the 3rd period,but was lucky enough to see Cortlands first 2 goals:eek:,2 bad goals...Not the start we wanted for sure limping into Whiteout Weekend. Corts goalie played well,we need more traffic in front of the net he had good looks at most shots.I think we may need a few navy seals this weekend, both teams coming in look very good so far:eek:

Oswego just has no jump and almost no chemistry which I don't understand at all. Z made some great saves last night but then 2 of 3 goals were very weak. Not a great start to the season but a big weekend next week will hopefully turn it around in a hurry.

We've been to all the games so far- rocky start to the new season. It doesn't seem to be a "talent" issue, I think we have the tools. But the team does not look "gelled" yet, not playing like a team. A lot of "carry it in and shoot" as opposed to good passes and setting things up. Brockport, Geneseo, and Cortland all looked crisper and more intense than us- for the first time in a long time. The late-game goal by Herlihey against Brockport is really the only exceptional individual play I can remember so far this year (except for some acrobatics by Z). Hopefully things will come together- sooner rather than latter. Two weeks in and we're already borderline on having to win the SUNYAC to get an invite. Worst case scenario we pull it together after Christmas come on strong at the end of the season.

As I've heard more than one fan say- "We're spoiled". We're not used to being in this position and there is more parity in the league now than ever. That's a good thing- we just have to get through this rough start.

On the bright side, Berry continues to impress!

Gird your loins, gentlemen. For what it's worth, the KRACH rankings have Potsdam #4, Plattsburg #5, and, uh, Oswego #30. :eek:
