2014 UNH Wildcats: Ending Strong and Starting Fresh

Re: 2014 UNH Wildcats: Ending Strong and Starting Fresh

Any information out on a video link for tomorrows' game? Do not see anything on the BC site.

There is a free stream that will be on BCEagles.com/allaccess. It uses ambient audio from the arena and isn't exactly high def but it's free and gets the job done.

I hope UNH has a better year next year. 4-1 BC after 1, this year is over.

Re: 2014 UNH Wildcats: Ending Strong and Starting Fresh

Yes. UNH has had a short bench since before Christmas break. Lost another player last weekend.

Re: 2014 UNH Wildcats: Ending Strong and Starting Fresh

The last game is always tough but the CATS don't have to hang their heads. That was a near flawless game that BC played tonight.

We appreciate the effort this year girls especially with the short bench. The last half of the season has been extremely competitive and very entertaining. Good luck to the seniors moving on and to everyone getting healthy for next fall.

Followed along on Twitter while streaming the men's game, reminded me a bit of the football team against North Dakota State - started off like they needed to but then the game got away from them.

Good luck seniors, thank you.

Yes, another season ending injury. Had a short bench all season. Went from roster of 29 in 12-13' to 20 to start season. (17 skaters, 3 goalies). Lost 7 to grad and 4 did not return to the team including 2 defense. Lost 4 skaters to season ending injuries. Added 1 skater in late fall. In all, were down 3-4 skaters from original plan in first half and 5-6 in second half of season. Always played Pd1-2 tough but had difficulty in 3rd period. Played 4 D down the stretch. Lot's of ice time for underclassmen and with strong incoming class and a healthy squad should be a very competitive team next year.

A tough ending to a forgettable season for the Cats. Getting bombed 8-1 is going to happen when playing an excellent hockey team with ability, stability, and depth. It has been a nightmare season for the Wildcats given all the turmoil the ladies had to go through off the ice since late November and the injuries to key players on it! I am sure many are happy to get it over with and move forward in a positive direction. Let's hope for better days, months, and years ahead! Let's also hope for positive changes, improvements to the roster, and health to all!

Amen to that. This season unfortunately was a "perfect storm" of things going wrong for these young ladies. It WILL get better.

There were two positive takeaways from the quarter final game for me. First was Sara Carlson. She took her speed and play to a level I have never seen from her, and played easily the best game of her career in my opinion. Her bar has been raised!

Second is that Alexis Crossley played her best game since she took the injury break back in the late fall.

They say that hip injury / surgery takes a full year to return to 100%, and Megan Armstrong and Heather Kashman are at that anniversary, and hopefully are feeling more comfortable and stronger with each day.

Building for next year has begun.

Re: 2014 UNH Wildcats: Ending Strong and Starting Fresh

Following in what DC talked about, while no one was happy with the game vs. BC, I thought that we came to play, started strong....as BC picked up the pace, the game began to slide away from us. A rebound goal, power play goal on a real homer call, and then a nice earned goal, and we leave the first down 4-1! That was the ball game....BC is a great squad, with many talented players but as we did earlier in the year, they can be had...personally I think they are vulnerable to winning the NC.....but back to our team, in talking with friends after the game, the questions persist as to how UNH will end this charade and create the positive energy we need to begin our ascendancy again! Answers are needed quickly and succinctly so that the program can talk coaching, recruiting, sponsorships and funding, et al.....how are any of these and other future concerns to be addressed as long as Huddleston and Company remain silent! If they insist on letting the silence remain while Legal runs the show, we might as well throw away next year now, for we all know how fast the courts move! So enough of the BS UNH, do as you contend and attend to the needs of your student athletes first.....end this charade and put your energies behind those of,us that really do care about this program! Once UNH was the standard for women's hockey......we can be again!!

Well stated, zoofer. This sad charade/situation needs to be dealt with immediately. Otherwise, it will remain a millstone around the program's neck for the forseeable future. Enough damage has been done to the program, and unless some positive and proactive action is taken soon to put this whole sorry spectacle behind the program, the damage will only get worse, and the recovery period will likely extend past the careers of even the current underclassmen. Time for those who created the mess to step forward, earn your keep, and deal with it. NOW. As zoofer says - using a very familiar phrase which has been uttered by some of those who are now twiddling their thumbs in self-imposed exile - do as you contend, and attend to the needs of the student-athletes first.

With so many roster spots empty as it is, there IS an opportunity for a forward-thinking program to turn this around. Or UNH can just sit with its thumb up its ... nose and wait for the courts to sort it out.

Over to you, BB35 ...
