Fill those sandbags, Gurt! :D

Wasn't sandbagging at all. This is the Hawks this year. They coast as often as they can.

Just hope it doesn't bite them.

First off, this game isn't over. I've seen this team pull out worse than this.

Second, it will be interesting to see what Friday brings.

Nice to see the Wild finally take advantage of what Chicago has been giving them. We'll see what Friday brings.

Good win by the Wild. Imposed their will and outplayed the Hawks.

As I said... Friday is the pivot.

I do find it ironic that so many Gopher fans have no complaints in regards to style of play when it comes to the Wild.

19 to 18 in shots.

Riveting.

:p:D

"Is it a low class move to score the empty netter goal with 2.8 left when you have no one on you and you could just hold the puck that much longer?"

- Every St. Louis Cardinal fan watching the Bruins-Habs game

Speaking as a Cardinals fan, I found it hilarious. You could see the little argument he had with himself over whether or not to shoot it. He eventually just ran out of room and put it in, but I think even had just stopped puck handling and coasted, the puck would still have beaten the buzzer.

Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

Well that was a distressing period of hockey. I hope that was what they needed to realize that they should take this team seriously.

I know you're only half-trolling but did you watch the game?

Yes.

This is a god-awful boring series.

I can see how it would be appealing from the underdog's point of view though.

Win

This team is just like the Red Sox right after they rattled off a few. EVERYONE was a fan and always has been.

This.

Every team has bandwagon fans and people will always be quicker to support a winner. But I hate the d*****bag fans who act like they have been around forever when I know the truth. And the truth is when I would go to a Wings/Blackhawks game in Chicago in the 90s, the crowd would often be a 50/50 split between fan bases. And sometimes there would actually be far more Wings fans than fans of the home team.

Obviously, every team has bandwagon fans. And in fact, as much as the long-term fans hate it, those bandwagon fans are actually pretty important to the team. However, the fact that people don't go to games doesn't make them not fans. There are plenty of fans who are just more willing to spend the money when times are good than when times are bad. And really, at a bar, what does it mean that they are ACTING like they have always been fans. I love the blanket non-sequitur statements by bitter fans of beaten teams.

Yeah... one of those guys who's been around forever here... or at least since my first game in the early 80s...

I was at some of those Hawks/Wings games in the 90s and that was a function of Wings fans traveling really well and nothing else. The home games during that time were still sellouts, but the Wings were going through a great era and droves of their fans along with transplants would attend the games in Chicago.

This happens in lots of places around the country. Cubs fans going to Miller Park, Packer fans going to the Metrodome, Hawks fans going just about everywhere now, etc, etc.

I knew Hawks fans who would sell their tickets for those games for triple face and sometimes more to Wings fans and were more than happy to do it. PO'd me, but when you've got tickets to 41 games, what's one or two that you miss?

If you'd like to be factual in your criticism, the downturn in attendance happened for the most part in the 2000s and it was 100% the fault of management, which they now readily admit.

Keep embracing the butthurt though.

At one time, the Wings bandwagon was just as big. At least now you have a lot more seats to choose from at the Joe.

PS - One final thought. I've actually been around long enough to remember the Wings before Yzerman and Federov and the success that came with them and there weren't thousands of Wings fans at Chicago Stadium at that time when the Wings sucked. Funny how that works, don't you think?
