Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!
So my 70yo+ mother texted me her analysis of the series so far.
For context - I don't come from much of a hockey family. We went to Hawks games when I was growing up, but for my dad, it was more business related than that he actually liked hockey or the Hawks. I loved it and it changed my life - got me to start playing and now my kids come from a hockey family and I have no doubt that it will be passed down to the next generations.
Mom never went to any games and she briefly watched some Hawks games in 2010 and watched all of the playoff games last year. That's it.
Here's her take:
"2 my uneducated eye this series feels entirely different. Maybe coz starting in Chicago? It doesn't seem so edgy, so at every moment everything might blow out of control. I just feel like I'm watching a hockey game that the Hawks will win."
Spot on Mom! Move over Milbury.
Now... I realize that things can change in a series quickly and that this is far from over. I will say that the Hawks have sleepwalked through both of these games though and won. I don't like the level of effort and I think they're playing with fire, but having watched them this entire season, they won't get motivated until the other team forces them to.
My belief is that Minny will win tomorrow on home ice as I don't expect the Hawks to take it seriously yet. Game 4 will be the pivot - one way or the other.
