2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

That was fun; our group was standing above Section 21 or 22 at Mariucci, and her post for the game was right behind us. We all made some small talk, she was really cool about it. I ask her if, when she has a moment, she'd be willing to just say hi to a buddy of mine if I called him. She says "of course," so I make the call. Brent picks up, I say something like "somebody wants to say hi to you," and hand the phone off to Jenny. When I got the phone back, I could see Brent's dinner plate-sized eyes over the line.

He says, "someone wants to say hi" and I think...there's no one visiting that I know....Armadillo is at the game....WTeFF? Then I hear her, and I was amazed. How the Eff?! Well played, Mauer. Made for a great moment.

"Gutless" Marleau with his 15th playoff GWG and 60th total. Thanks, Roenick.

Have the Denver beat writers written much about Varlamov repeatedly beating his girlfriend?

So Marchand got kneed tonight, and was hit in the left leg. When he was coming off the ice, he was skating on the left leg and favoring his right.

He landed on his right leg and that's where the pain was. He even told the ref that's what happened and he "wasn't concerned about the hit" itself. But it makes a better story your way so I'm sure that's what the meme will be.

So... can go to Hawks/Blue game tonight for face value.

Face is $130 per ticket (300 level), so that x2, dinner, gas, tolls, parking and it's around $375 for this one game. I just can't bring myself to part with that much cash for one game.

It's not like I couldn't do it. I just think of all the other things I could buy or do for that much money...

Still living in the 90s for what I think these games should cost.

That it is. Also got a fave from Jenny Taft. Dial her up. She's legit, and good for the journalism field in the way of female influence (as in legit-ness).
And she's hot....

It's that Boston University atmosphere, man. We grow them up right. :D

Hey, it's not my fault Marchand rolls around like a soccer player afterwards. Or that he lands on his butt, not his knee. Most guys who get injured in hockey -- unless they're out cold -- get off the ice as fast as possible. That's what you're taught as a hockey player. Even when it's bad and you're in real pain you see them get off the ice. Nobody goes down and rolls over a few times grabbing their knee like it's the Serie A. Don't take my word for it, see Barrie this week, Hertl in December, Kesler last month -- anybody who's actually injured. And they don't return to the ice three shifts later, either.

I hear you. My wife and I priced it out and the last few years it has been cheaper to buy two tickets at JLA, pay for gas, hotel, and meals than it is for two 300 level Wings games at the UC.

I will say I only saw the meme, not the actual hit; had a very big workload this week, and didn't get to see much hockey last night.

I've tried getting out to see the Hawks twice during the regular season the last two years and with a 6 hour drive, it just doesn't make sense for a guy like me without a ton of funds.

I don't know that I'd necessarily say I'm happy Carcillo is playing for the Rangers, but I'm sure as heck happy he isn't playing against them.

(I mean, I'd happily trade him straight up for Giroux or Voracek, but you get the idea.)

Say something about Americans and no one bats an eye. Say something about Quebec and everybody flips out...

Oh, I agree with you. However, it's like putting out a fire with a squirt gun. It's not recommended. I don't think it's that big of deal, but everyone is saying he's been hanging out with Don Cherry too much.

I'm suddenly reminded a quote I read where Red Auerbach basically says he allowed the rumors about the "dead spots" in the floor at Boston Garden to exist because it intimidated the opposing players before they even stepped on the court. I'm thinking the hysteria about the "French Canadian" refs is a similar ploy. It's probably not true, but les Habitants will certainly use it to their advantage.

(yes. that is just me. Who just typed that. Roboshark. See? Still me.)
