2014 NCAA Quarterfinal Boston University @ Minnesota

Re: 2014 NCAA Quarterfinal Boston University @ Minnesota

I agree, though to me it has less to do with freeing up offense than because I think the Brandt line features the Gophers' two weakest defensive wings. ("Weakest" in this context being used very much as a relative term; Lorence and Menefee are fine defensively but they aren't Bona or Schipper or Cameranesi or Brausen.)

the statistics do not back you on this, Menefee (1/3 the even strength goals) is one of the strongest defensive players on the team, as is Lorence (1/2)

I'm not even sure what statistic you're citing.

even strength goals allowed
I don't have th data in front of me, but Menefee is one of the least likely to give up a goial & Lorence isn't far behind her
there really isn't any such thing as "best" defensive player of the Gopher forwards
for one, it would depend on how you define best
it's pick your poison, they are all tough

much has been made of the balanced scoring, but the defense of the forwards ...outstanding!

Re: 2014 NCAA Quarterfinal Boston University @ Minnesota

I still don't have any idea what you're talking about.

even strength goals allowed

Relative to what? What the hell did 1/3 and 1/2 mean?

Have you considered a career in writing 10-Ks? There are a lot of companies out there looking for people who can meet the technical requirements for disclosure while still leaving readers completely baffled as to what was meant.

I can't help it that you went to a second rate school.

perhaps I should explain like Brooky communicates with cheeseheads

I'll bring some puppets with me on Saturday

or have someone read this and explain it to you:
1/3 is another way of saying one third
3 is one third of 9

I would have thought you'd have learned this by your age

Re: 2014 NCAA Quarterfinal Boston University @ Minnesota

Simple math aside, it helps to indicate what you're counting, and how that relates to the discussion at hand. Just saying. No name-calling required (unless you're talking about blind-as-a-bat officials -- then name-calling is mandatory. ;) )

Yes, it's the first thing you learn in sciences like physics -- answers without units are useless.

Hey, obfuscation is only the third most important element, behind making sure everything balances, and then making sure that it is presented in the proper format.

And even with units, much data is useless.

Yeah, but I had some teachers/profs that would give you a zero for a problem if you omitted the units, even if everything else was correct. It may have still been useless, but credit >>> no credit.

I had those same profs. They must have been old when you got to them. Isn't tenure a wonder?

the units were already given in the original post

is it required to repeat everything? I know you guys like to talk, and listen to yourselves talk, but not everyone does

No credit? Ouch. That's harsh. I understand the importance of units, but I usually just dock one point.

Re: 2014 NCAA Quarterfinal Boston University @ Minnesota

Congratulations to BU for making it a game for the first two periods. UM was lucky to get out of that period, meaning the second, without BU scoring one or two more goals.

But now it's a 5-1 blowout...that soft goal by Terry I think deflated BU.

I've mentioned this before but I think it is definitely worth repeating.

Dan Haman's skill as a play by play guy adds value to a game that is absolutely off the charts. He is 100% emotionally involved in the game which automatically and unconsciously gets a viewer/listener totally engaged. He is definitely one of the absolute best that I have ever heard.

Another superlative job.
