This winter has been way too long and cold.
I want a sunburn.

Thoughts about NYC: Obviously you're not going to see anything close to the whole city in 12 hours but it's enough to hit a bunch of the high points.
Grand Central is gorgeous and definitely worth a look. MSG is kind of an eyesore from the outside and probably not worthwhile unless you're going to an event there or doing a behind-the-scenes type of a tour.
As others noted, Top of the Rock might be a good spot to hit; you get the view of all the great buildings, including the Empire State Building, without the crazy lines to go up the ESB.
If you're not able to go to the museum (either because it's not open or because you haven't pre-booked tickets), the WTC is probably not worth visiting. Honestly, it's basically just a huge construction site at this point, though my view is presumably skewed by the fact that I've worked a block away for years now, so the emotional impact is sort of blunted at this point. South Street Seaport is also kinda terrible (and really not entirely recovered from Sandy yet either) and I'd say skip it.
Times Square is pretty cool to see but you'll be happy just walking through. Most of the stores you probably have at whatever mall is closest to you at home, they're just bigger in Times Square.
Central Park and the Museum of Natural History (or the Met if you prefer art to science) are definitely a good draw, especially given the awesome weather we're expecting in the Northeast this weekend.
So, I'd say you could make a nice day out of Grand Central, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, Central Park, and one of the museums. You could probably also fit in downtown sights but trying to cram in too much makes sightseeing a chore rather than a pleasure, if you ask me. Those are all pretty walkable to one another, which might be a good thing if, as I mentioned, the weather turns out to be really nice.
If you're looking for places to eat while you're here, let me know if there's any particular meals/types of food you're looking for and I'll see if I can come up with something good.
(Huh. Never expected a thread about the FF in Philly to turn out to be about sightseeing in NYC.)
Just know the train schedule from the airport, which I think is every 30 min. That'll be $8.00 it seems, then it'll be $2.25 or 1 token to get to the arena. Similar trip back to the hotel.
This NYC tourist would VOTE FOR THE mETROPOLITAN mUSEUM OF aRT. (oops caplock malfunction). MMA, Central Park, 5th Avenue. A great Day!
I bought tickets last night after I saw how low the prices were. I'm only going to the semifinals and it's my first frozen four. Any advice? I'm super excited!!
(Also, if you see two overwhelmed-looking girls in a Providence jersey and a North Dakota jersey say hi!)
Is the NoDak jersy a fighting sioux one?
Good,Yep! A green one. Got it for Christmas two years ago.
Sorry to be the inquisitive idiot again, but what are the camera policies at the F4?
If I have a DSLR, can I bring it in?
Good,
even though I hate the Sioux, their fighting sioux jersy is great, the new ones that the govt forces them to wear suck.

VIDEO & AUDIO RECORDING
Video & audio recording equipment is not permitted in the Wells Fargo Center.
(from the WFC website). THis may cause problems if your DSLR records videos (most do).
Also, no smart phones will be allowed either.![]()
There weren't big swaths of empty seats, like in may previous FFs (except for the Minnesota section during the first game, shame on you Minnesota). Either the NCAA or somebody did a better job of allocating the seats to the corporate and NCAA bigwigs who often don't show up (or they actually did show up). Pretty sure they didn't sell out, because I got another email Thursday morning saying there were still tickets available. Upper tier in the ends were pretty empty, except for the bands, but otherwise the empty seats were dispersed, so the place looked reasonably full, and gradually the lower bowl seats filled in, probably by upper bowl folks who moved down. The ushers didn't do much to prevent it (sometimes even during play).
Very nice facility. Scarlet's right about the pizza -- you need two plates and two hands. And either the traffic is very well planned or we were extraordinarily lucky. We back to our hotel near the airport 15 minutes from the end of the game.
Smallest crowd with relation to capacity I have ever seen. Top of balcony was empty in both ends. Center ice VIP seats also empty.. They need ton give priority seat holders better selection of seats. Best games in a number of years.
