Good assumption. The UMD guy gets distracted and forgets to talk about the game every so on. He will also start laughing and when he gets around to telling us why, it never seems worth interrupting the game for 30 seconds. He isn't quite the homer he used to be now that UMD isn't as dominant, but yeah, Dan is the way to go.

When Dan was calling the game he could identify the Bulldog players during play by play as quickly as he could the Gopher players. It's actually a very respectable broadcast.

Out of curiosity...anyone know how many weeks Minnesota was ranked #1 in the USCHO poll prior to the 2013-2014 final ranking?

March 5, 2012 was the last poll where someone else was No. 1 (Wisconsin). So if you want to count up the weeks, start at the next poll (March 19).

Anybody have any ideas of lines they want to see against Wisconsin? Here was line chart for forwards from Saturday's game vs UMD:

Cameranesi-Brandt-Rodgers
Bona-Schipper-Wolfe
Piazza-Pannek-Lorence
Menefee Flug

After Saturday at AMSOIL, my armchair coaching inclination would probably be...at least considering tweaks to all. No idea if #14 is ready to play regular shifts. I would like to see Flug get more ice time. I have thoughts regarding who I might substitute for on those first two lines listed. I won't go there...but the Gophs will need plenty of quality shots and more production to steal points in Madison. Still...goaltending and the defensive effort are the biggest keys vs. the "Badgerettes" in my estimation. Got to slow the Red Scourge down. If you give up their current average you're in trouble.

I don't know that we saw that much of those particular lines. At a certain point in the second period, Bona began taking most of the shifts with Cameranesi and Brandt. Maybe Menefee plays this weekend, and then that changes the mix. Schipper, Wolfe, and Lorence combined on one of the goals, and any time there is a sign of chemistry from some combination that doesn't involve 7, 21, and 22, then that may be worth looking at. It will help the cause if Bona starts scoring, and the freshmen forwards start getting into a groove.

Tough weekend for the ladies. Would have loved to see Kessel on the ice. I have to think a split would be a good result.

"Regardless of what happened on social media earlier this week or what happens on the ice this weekend, there is a mutual respect between these two women’s hockey powerhouses."

Some trash talk perhaps?

Pretty harmless...

I did like what Ramsey was quoted with at the end of the article.

“There [are] a lot of reasons for rivalries. The Wisconsin [rivalry] carries a lot of respect,” Ramsey said. “When we play them, we know it is going to be a clean game, it’s going to be fast-paced and just one of the best examples of women’s hockey that there is.”

Nuff said...Let's play.

The SIDs know each other.

Border Battle I 2014-2015!

Badgers tend to come out with guns blazing. Be nice to subdue the crowd early.

Go Gophers!

Nothing's gonna shut me up...I have to counter cheer all the rodent fans under all circumstances. I will admit your fanbase does support your team well in Madison, it's going to be a fun 2 games.

Would love to be there, but 100th Anniversary Homecoming activities have got me plenty busy here in the Twin Cities.

Anyone know?

If I subscribe to btnplus can I select Minnesota package and get tonight's game or do I need to select Wisconsin package?

I hope it's the former because that's what I just did. I wouldn't think it would matter - if you select Minnesota you should be able to view all Minnesota games that BTN Plus is streaming.

I don't think the point of access matters with a BTN Plus subscription but accessing via the link on the Gophersports GWH page is probably the way to go per a subscription to Minnesota athletics.

I subscribed to the Minnesota package. I'm logged in and waiting but all appears good to go.
