Re: 2014-2015 Minnesota Women's Hockey: The Maroon & Gold Strike Back!

A rather arrogant comment by Leveille I thought.
Sorry, her quote is shortened and is a little out of context this way. She is crediting her D's play in the third.

For some reason I'm reminded of the BC vs UM NCAA tournament upset game of 4 years ago where BC's Kelly Stack and her pals resoundingly sent favoured UM packing to dust off their golf clubs and contemplate the next season.
The road team was favored? Who knew. When I think of truly-favored teams getting bounced, I think of #2 seed UMD falling to SLU in 2005. Wonder how the golf courses were that year?

Re: 2014-2015 Minnesota Women's Hockey: The Maroon & Gold Strike Back!

Aw, don't be bitter. She just said that UM can shut really good teams like UMD down when they play at their peak. It ain't bragging if you can do it.

No bitterness, just being objective. The key was in the tense that she used. If she would have referred to the past, assuming it was completely factual, then it wouldn't be bragging. But she referred to the present and projected that into the future so, that's bragging. And I didn't take it as her referring to UMD...she was referring to anyone/any team.

“Our team is fantastic when we get up. We know that we can’t get scored on, and they just shut down.”

She's young but it's still a bit disappointing.

Well, I haven't yet had the luxury of viewing the non-edited version.

And you're sure getting thin skinned aren't you? But, regardless, as I've said before...I still prefer the feistier you.

Congratulations to the Minnesota Gophers on their 3rd straight WCHA regular season championship.
Also, many thanks to a great group of seniors who have accomplished so much, achieved success I never could have imagined possible and entertained GWH fans so thoroughly.

Kudos to Bona for her response to Crossman's stick work on Leveille as well.

Has the embellishment call, with associated infractions been de-emphasized or taken off the books? Crossman deserves an Oscar nomination.

The ref called one on Leon Bristedt of the Gopher men's team last night. If he was acting you wouldn't have known it!

Crossman deserves an Oscar nomination.
Crossman's acting on the other hand was very amateurish. She would have received two if the sport had been real diving!

I can't remember which UMD player it was, but someone else took a similarly poor dive in Friday night's game. The way she went down you would have thought she hit her head on the board, but after the ref didn't call anything she got right back up like nothing happened. Makes one wonder if these players were receiving some "instructions" from the bench.

What are we going to do next year? Who will step up and become the coach that argues at length with the refs about which players should be on the ice after an icing call?

The end of the Shannon Miller regime is a threat to so many traditions.

I'm bummed. We are in the background of every Gopher trophy photo except the NCAA one from Duluth nearly 4 years back (make up for that by being in the one UMD won at Mariucci in the early aught's. Just noticed that a couple of years ago, it was not a planned thing but now that I know about it I miss not getting in :)

Why don't you ask if you can borrow the sequined jacket for any potential future photo bombs? You're sure to be seen then.

I know Muzzie has one - she wore it in Duluth for the NCAA championship. Kate Frishman's dad wore it at the celebration that night. I can't ask Nadine though - she scares me!

I think it's safe to say that with the recent Team USA announcement that it's all but certain that Amanda Kessel's hockey playing days are over. :(

I think so too. Wish she could have been here for senior day. Would like to have had the chance to acknowledge her contributions.

Hopefully she'll be in school next year and can make an appearance. I have a print of the class she was a freshman with and hers is the only signature missing. I even managed to get Ashley Stenerson's.

As sad as that makes me I could not care less about her playing again. I hope her brain is OK and that this stuff does not affect her real life, the one she will live for many more years off the ice. One of the best hockey players I can remember seeing and it does not matter a whit unless she is going to be alright.

I think that goes without saying.
