2014-2015 Minnesota Women's Hockey: The Maroon & Gold Strike Back II

Re: 2014-2015 Minnesota Women's Hockey: The Maroon & Gold Strike Back II

She renounced her Gopher status, so I don't claim her as a former Gopher. If one leaves like Liz Palkie but never dons another sweater and competes versus the "M" that is different, but Potter can go sit with the Lams in the "Other Former WCHA Players" section.
Of course I knew she transferred but I was not aware that she "renounced" her Gopher status, the implication being that she left on unfriendly terms. Anyway I thought I would mention her because she's supposedly is in the running for a couple of open coaching jobs.

Add Winny Brodt to the list of former Gopher greats in attendance.

The one I question more, though even so it wasn't a big deal, was why Brad Frost didn't call time out when the Gophers were called for icing with less than a minute left and protecting a two goal lead. Had it been a one goal lead I would have definitely thought it was a mistake; I've thought that since they instituted the rule that the team guilty of icing couldn't change players, that was one of the moments that you save your time out for.
Wisconsin had been skating with the extra attacker for a while. Frost may have thought that a) the Wisconsin forwards pressuring were more tired and needed the break more than the Gophers defending, or b) he didn't want to give the Wisconsin bench time to set up a play. Sometimes I like it when the coach stays out of the way and lets the kids on the ice take care of it. Minnesota spent some time during Thursday's practice defending against six skaters, so Frost may have thought that the Gophers were prepared for what was coming.

Congratulations Gophers on winning your third National Title in four seasons! I think they call that a dynasty. Way to represent our great conference! #WCHA

Congrats ladies and thanks all!

My only wish was that Amanda had been with the team.

Like Skate79, I am a Harvard fan and concur with his comments. Minnesota did deserve the win, incredibly fast skating and awesome defense. My congratulations to the young ladies from Minnesota. To the young women who are graduating, best wishes to you in all your future endeavors.

Well earned; well deserved. You did a great job of representing your University; the State of Hockey; and yes, the Women's WCHA. :)

Fun game and fantastic season!
I don't post here much but do try to catch a couple games a year. Love how Frost builds the team from the defense out, just a joy to watch them distribute the puck.

A big thank you to the Gopher senior class. Your part in compiling an incredible 147 wins, three national titles, and the perfect 41-0 season is very much appreciated by this fan.
