Re: 2014-2015 Division I Scores & Results Thread

Is this a first for OSU?

You mean, like, ever? or just this year?

All time record for Wisconsin against OSU is now 56-10-6. This year 3 UW wins to 1 OSU win.

(The most notable Ohio State wins recently would be back-to-back overtime Ohio wins at Wisconsin in the first round of the WCHA playoffs in 2010.)

Re: 2014-2015 Division I Scores & Results Thread

Minnesota wins 2-0 by playing by far their best period of the weekend. UMD had a total of two shots, one of which was really a dump in.

Re: 2014-2015 Division I Scores & Results Thread

UVM overcomes a two goal deficit early in the third and game ends in 3-3 tie with UNH.

Is there any sort of Northern New England Beanpot/Championship Belt involving UVM, UNH, Maine and Dartmouth?
(A son-in-law went to UVM in the Tim Thomas/Marty St. Louis era and boy is he a diehard fan)

I just think that the officiating is all over the map in the East. I don't know how it is out West but at least in the ECAC, you don't know what you are going to get from game to game. If you had seen the Haley Mullins hit on the Brown player, you would have been shocked to see the scoreboard reading "5:00". I mean she literally bumped into the Brown skater accidentally. We've given up trying to figure out the officials and their calls.

Correction: you DO know what you are going to get from game to game: poor officiating. But you have no idea what you are going to get from period to period, or whether there will be any consistency at least in how things are called for each team. The officiating is appalling: penalty calls, icings, offsides.

I could add a long list of ludicrous calls (and non-calls) this season, but there are not enough hours in the day. The latest was a huge open-ice body check on a player. The offending player came at her target with such speed she fell down herself. And the targeted player who'd been basically standing still the whole time was assessed the penalty. Too many calls are based on simply whether a player falls down. If a player is mauled but strong on her skates, it's too often ignored.

Well, yeah, that was my point. That officiating is mediocre and they are missing more calls with every game. Including icings, offsides, heck even a goal that they decided not to review for who knows why. And now we have five minute majors called for body checking when a player accidentally skates into another player near the boards. Like I said, Harvard fans and the coaching staff have given up trying to figure out what these officials are seeing or not seeing. It's painful to watch.

St Cloud 2- Mankato 1 in 3rd period.

Mankato has 31 shots, Nicole Schammel has 15 shots! Somehow, Schammel has the goal for Mankato as well

Final: St Cloud 3, Mankato 1 - Abby Ness with the game-winning and insurance empty-net goals.

Two WCHA quarterfinal series are set: Minnesota State @ Minnesota and St. Cloud State @ Wisconsin.

She was a scoring phenom in high school, but many observers cautioned that most of her goals and points came against weak competition. Well, forget all that; she's managed to adopt to D1-level hockey quite well, thank you very much! ;) :)

5-0 is your final. Carpenter at 2-1--3 tonight and 4-4--8 in her last 3 games appears to be making her case for Kaz.

From live stats, the impression is of an intense battle commencing in Bemidji with the Beavers grabbing a 1-0 lead 'bout halfway thru the 1st. Just as I expected so far.
