Re: 2014-2015 Division I Scores & Results Thread

BC with a substantial territorial and shot advantage but it's all knotted up at one after one. Good game.

Re: 2014-2015 Division I Scores & Results Thread

Harvard with a very good 2nd period and they lead 3-2 after 2 periods.

Pretty even 2nd period, but Harvard takes a 3-2 lead. Carpenter was given a major penalty for checking, which at best was very questionable - should have been just two IMO. Harvard was able to score just one off of it though, as BC did a nice job killing its last 4 minutes.

Awful turnover by Harvard led to BC 2nd goal. Also thought Machemayer should have made the save on the 2nd goal. All in all I think it has been a terrific game to watch.

It was a good snipe from Skarupa on the 2nd BC goal. Maschmeyer should have stopped the first BC goal, however.

I thought the first BC goal may have been deflected off a Harvard players stick. We agree to disagree. :D

It looked to me like the puck deflected off the D's calf.

Way to go Hahvad. 3-2 final. Machemayer and Pucci just unbelieveable in the third period.

The <strike>1972 Dolphins</strike> 2012-13 Gophers collectively crack open the champagne.

Re: 2014-2015 Division I Scores & Results Thread

I think BC fans will have some questions and comments about the officiating.

Not too much - should have been a two, not a five IMO
Mistake on the icing call at the end. (probably not a factor)

I thought the rest was pretty fair

Re: 2014-2015 Division I Scores & Results Thread

Thought Harvard did a fantastic job blocking shots and clogging the middle. Few untimely sloppy passes from BC didn't help them either.

Seriously? Six power plays and you want to question the fairness of the officiating? For the record, Harvard had a five minute major called on one of our players on Saturday when Haley Mullins accidentally bumped a Brown player. Officiating is all over the map in the East and I don't think any team is getting any preferential treatment. We've had more than our fair share of calls go against us this year.

I was thinking more of the 2 checking calls on Harvard that could have been 5 minutes based on what was called on Carpenter.

I half expected the even-up call immediately after the Carpenter penalty on the first player for Harvard that came with two feet of an Eagle -- especially after the Crimson scored so early in the PP.

I'm not questioning it as I was more than happy to see "bc" defeated. Just thought it curious that Carpenter got 5 and 1 or 2 checking calls on Harvard could have been called 5 minutes.

I would argue that Carpenter's check was more flagrant, with an obvious extra shove from the arm/elbow, but it still was not deserving of a 5...nor were either of the two Harvard checks.

Again, No argument from me. You are correct, all the checking penalties were of the two minute variety. So the issue is the inconsistency of one team getting a 5 minute penalty and the other not.
