Re: 2014-2015 Division I Scores & Results Thread

Right, so when Hockey East teams beat each other they're "bad" but when the WCHA teams do it's "competitive."
Hockey East teams aren't questioned because they beat each other, but because they can have such a tough time out of conference. Vermont is one of the few that has looked better out of conference than in. BU has been mostly good, but I don't know what to think of the Cornell game.

Nonetheless I think we can all agree that a struggling Bemidji taking down a full-strength Wisconsin is pretty hilarious.
No. It's not funny in the least, because you think Bemidji is struggling. The Beavers won't always know where their goals are going to come from. The offense will be hit and miss. But win, lose, or draw, they will work hard and defend with everything they've got. You're only laughing because you haven't played BSU.

Omg ARM.

It's funny.

Also, Bemidji wasn't struggling? Are we watching the same season?

I cannot possibly put enough eye-rolling emojis to cover how much I am rolling my eyes at this load of feel-good nonsense.

But I will try.

I thought it was pretty clear that Bemidji is a dangerous team. Definitely slumped before and after the break. I'm surprised given the number of positive results they've had this season they are considered a joke.

I'm going to reprise the post I made Wednesday of this week:

Bemidji State's Ivana Bilic leads the nation in blocks per game at 3.33 and total blocks at 80. BSU's Alexis Joyce is nation's 3rd in both at 2.75 and 66. Madison Hutchinson of BSU is 6th in the nation in blocks at 47.

Bilic is BSU's best +/- at +14 with 2nd best being Joyce at +8. Bilic is 2nd on the team in points with 17 comfortably ahead of 3rd place Stephanie Anderson.

Bemidji's defense is playing strong and combining with great performances by Britni Mowat to make them a dangerous team. Great season so far by Ivana Bilic.

Early in the season this loss wouldn't have shocked me. But Bemidji had been having a brutal 2nd half. Why can people not admit this?

Having watched both teams, I find tying St. Lawrence to be a far more mystifying result than losing to Bemidji State.

Fair enough. But I was wondering if they were tanking or slumping. Clearly losing 3-0 to St Cloud and losing 1-0 to Lindenwood could make one think they were tanking, no question about it. That four game stretch was bad. But in the last 4 games they beat Lindenwood 6-1, and beat UMD and Wisconsin. They have a new coach and taking 5 out of 6 points from Minnesota is something the program has never done before. I think they are an interesting case.

Most all of their 'key' players are underclassmen. They're pretty darn good this year (with noted lapses); they could be really good next year.

Perhaps if you would admit you don't really know dick about Bemidji. It's obvious to those who do by your remarks. Your rolleyes post illustrates perfectly as it is a spot on account of Bemidji by ARM. Have a good weekend ~ brookyone
Man, you guys get really touchy when someone disrespects the mighty WCHA.

They weren't playing that much differently than they ever do. They have trouble scoring. Two of their three goals against UM were bounce goals. Some days, you don't get those same kind of bounces. They don't score goals like you are used to seeing from BC, at least not often. They lost to Lindenwood; two words -- Nicole Hensley. Teams that have problems scoring are going to be frustrated by such goalies. That's how hockey works. But you are thinking that BSU fell off some cliff around the holidays. There isn't a lot of margin for error in the game they play. They don't have a BC offense. Who does? Look at the scores of the UMD series and is it that shocking that they could beat Wisconsin?

I'll let you go back to giggling now.

In a perfect world, Bemidji would finish 8th in the PairWise and win a trip to Chestnut Hill.

I think we'd ALL love to see that, wouldn't we? :-)

They had lost 5 of their previous 7 games! After climbing as high as 5th in the Posters Poll! This isn't falling off a cliff to you?

You guys are unbelievable. And I'm supposed to interpret a split against Duluth as some kind of evidence that they were going to largely outplay Wisconsin?

Totally serious statement -- maybe I'm just thinking more highly of Wisconsin than everyone else is.

No, Wisconsin is very good. Do you understand defense in hockey, or are you mostly just concerned with goal gifs?

Re: 2014-2015 Division I Scores & Results Thread

The thing I find to be the most inexplicable part of Bemidji's season is going 0-for-4 against Ohio State. No offense to OSU, of course, but what the heck...??
I think that has something to do with match ups and the size and strength of OSU creates problems for Bemidji.

Re: 2014-2015 Division I Scores & Results Thread

YIKES!! I have never seen Mercyhurst play as poorly as today...not a single player making an effort in the 1st vs Syracuse

Re: 2014-2015 Division I Scores & Results Thread

With 42 seconds left in the second period Harvard is leading Dartmouth 1-0 on a goal by Hilary Crowe. Dartmouth has a 25-17 edge in SOG.
