Play-downs count against your 34, but there's nothing saying you can't. As a trade-off, we get a separate exemption playing a team sanctioned by USA Hockey.

Dartmouth plays Norwich every now and then, because Ivy League does not have any limits as to exhibition games counting against their 29.

Pencil BC/UML for 20-21 February. Location unknown, but I assume a home/home.

And wow, did I forget about the Catamount Cup. I know someone was mentioning how Wisconsin has an extra two games, perhaps they'll fill them with that? Air Force maybe is the 4th team?

a lot of these things end up being special carve out for certain sports. I know soccer tends to do two to three exhibition games against fellow D1 opponents before they get rolling.

Lowell's full schedule should be released early next week (possibly even today). I can tell you that BC/UML is not a home-and home for 2/20-21.

Not so good for the PC students but overall it makes economic sense as they will fill the stands selling all seats now instead of bringing in a team that day that would only fill it halfway.

You can take international tours at any time your school is on break.

RIT women's hockey went to Ontario for 3 or 4 games at Thanksgiving time a few years ago.

In the short term yes, in the long term I'd argue these are the games that get students hooked and then coming back and buying tickets year after year. Hockey East having quite the year of schedule making.
