2014-15 College Football Part II: SEC vs World

Re: 2014-15 College Football Part II: SEC vs World

Regardless of what happens at the next level, winning the Heisman is a huge honor. The prestige that comes with it is one thing, but you are part of a rather excusive brotherhood after you've won. It does matter.

To the winners, sure. But to the spectators so much that we need to have a vote where we know all the votes? No. It's already become a popularity for on field events only event- if the votes were open, that would be worse.

Leave it closed as it is.

Re: 2014-15 College Football Part II: SEC vs World

One guy last year lost his vote for putting it up for debate on Reddit. It's not going to be forcibly made public ever.

Re: 2014-15 College Football Part II: SEC vs World

That was Dan Lebatard. Whoever thought it was a good idea to give him a vote needs to be smacked with a shovel.

Our resident idiot at the Detroit News decided not to send in his ballot because his vagina hurt over the 10 player limit on any given ballot.

Who even remembers what Penn State did? Seriously, Scott Paterno could use a refresher:

So wait, Michigan is hiring a guy who called its academics a joke for $8m+ a year and WE had the football crazy culture problem?
— Scott Paterno (@ScottPaterno) December 19, 2014

You'll say anything after your entire world has crashed down.

Re: 2014-15 College Football Part II: SEC vs World

PSU could've had the death penalty and some of them still wouldn't get it.

But man, the responses (and Paterno's sad attempts to argue with them) are quite amazing.

If you needed any convincing he has no self awareness...

Also, hiring Harbaugh - a guy who has basically a-holed a loaded NFL team into mediocrity- is puzzling.
— Scott Paterno (@ScottPaterno) December 19, 2014

Your dad stood by while his buddy actually a-holed CHILDREN with his dick. Then he tried to cover it up.

This guy is as bad as his dad and his buddy.

Re: 2014-15 College Football Part II: SEC vs World

Personally, I hope Michigan gets Harbaugh.

I've thoroughly enjoyed Michigan's plummet from power and the several years of wallowing in mediocrity that followed. To see the most arrogant football fans that I've ever had the displeasure of sharing gameday experiences with humbled was a real joy to this sports fan.

Time to get back at it though as the B1G needs Michigan to be great so as to elevate everyone else and give OSU another challenger in the east.

On a personal note, if they ever show up on our schedule again, I want the game to have the juice that it did back in the 90s when beating Michigan meant something.

Plus, it will be a lot of fun to see Jimmy melting down from time to time. :D

Re: 2014-15 College Football Part II: SEC vs World

I feel sorry for Scott. His entire world is his dad's legacy. Imagine having to live with that for the rest of your life.

Re: 2014-15 College Football Part II: SEC vs World

I really hate the notion that the Big Ten needs Michigan. Or Ohio State. It needs to bring the other schools up to that level and have consistent high-level performers. I mean, the SEC had Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Arkansas (at one point), this year they had Ole Miss and Miss State.

**** that idea that we need two teams to prop up our conference.

**** it all you want. It's simply reality.

Ole Miss and Mississippi State are very likely to fall right back into obscurity. The Alabamas and the Auburns and the LSUs will continue to carry that conference while flash in the pan teams spice things up from time to time.

Yeah, what a one-trick conference. I mean, only 5 conference members won BCS titles - that's less than half! ;)

Here's the thing though: The SEC backed those MS schools this year. They didn't yearn for yesteryear and wonder when LSU and Florida will return to the top of the standings.

Meanwhile, north of the Mason-Dixon, the Big Ten has been whining for years that Michigan, PSU, and Nebraska are ruining the conference by being mediocre, fighting the fact that Wisconsin and Michigan State have moved into the top tier in the league. Contrary to that line of thinking, more than three or four select programs are allowed to be good.

Is the Big 12 terrible because Texas has dropped off? No. Baylor and TCU, one being a team that was trash for basically it's entire history until five years ago, the other a school that wasn't even in the conference until a few years ago, were in playoff talks all season long. Along with K-State, the Big 12 was never considered "down" this year.
What about the Pac 12? USC wasn't on top of the world, but the Pac 12 was still considered great with Oregon and Arizona leading the way.
The SEC has seen Missouri come in and go to two conference title games, yet they aren't considered down.

The Big Ten needs to get out of the shadow of Bo and JoePa and Osborne. Those days are gone. Right now it's Meyer, Dantonio, and that revolving door at Wisconsin that keeps putting up 10 wins a season.

Re: 2014-15 College Football Part II: SEC vs World

In imho Baylor and TCU do nothing to increase the sex appeal of the Big 12. I love my Gophers but if they somehow made to the Top 4 next season the general public would not be fawning over the Big 10 and nobody gives a **** about UW outside its borders. It will take time for the Big to escape the footprint of UMi and PSU and for now - yes - the conference needs them to be Big.

Re: 2014-15 College Football Part II: SEC vs World

That's what happened with the Pac 10 ~2000 and now. The top of the conference was Washington, Oregon, and Oregon State, USC was garbage, UCLA wasn't good so everybody went "Pac 10 sucks this year!"

The SEC is really the only conference that gets a pass if it's marquee teams aren't doing well.

Just more proof that the SEC has depth, but every other conference sucks. :D
