2013 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship

Re: 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship

Megan Bozek fires a rocket that puts US up 2-1 on a 5-on-3. Lots of hockey left and Canada has already shown that they can come from behind on the US. Great game. Watching on fasthockey.com. It's free for those who do not get TSN.

Re: 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship

Tied up at two now

Re: 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship

Canada 2 - USA 2 after two.

Decker undresses Szabados.

Stupid penalties taken by Wickenheiser and Decker.

Ouellette blasts one from the top of the face off circle seconds into Decker's penalty to tie it up near the end of the second.

Canada has to stay out of the penalty box and keep their feet moving and try to neutralize the US speed.

Canoe tipper.

Re: 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship

What a fun game to watch! Awesome looking crowd there....very jealous of all those in attendance.
The 4k at the gut last year was a great atmosphere, this is magnitudes better. Great for the women's game.

Go USA!

Re: 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship

USA 3
Canada 2 Final

Decker, Bozek, and Kessel score for US. Kessel with the game winner early in third. Vetter with the win in net, making 14 saves.

Birchard and Ouellette with the tallies for Canada. Szabados with 27 saves in the loss.

The Kessel, Decker, Coyne line played great tonight. Congrats to the entire team on a hard fought and well deserved victory.

Re: 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship

Agreed on Kessel, Decker, and Coyne playing well. Good to see the WCHA represented well with all three goals for the championship.

Re: 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship

Nice win for USA!

It was nice seeing all those former BADGERS on the ice.

That was fun. Great job team USA. I'll also add that I thought Decker's goal was very Decker-like.

Re: 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship

Entertaining game...exciting finish...big crowd. Good for the game.

Canada couldn't muster any sustained offence throughout the game...relentless US forecheck at times and tremendous speed.

Anyone know who the first US player to receive her medal was?...she was not in uniform.

I didn't see it but before the game the announcer mentioned that Lee Stecklein and Jen Schoullis were the two scratches.

Re: 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship

Kinda not fair to have Kessel, Decker and Coyne on one line- they even made the Lams look normal!!...its almost like Stone is trying to win Gold in Socchi

Re: 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship

Attendance record of 18, 013 was set last Friday for the Finland vs Canada game which surpassed the previous record in 2007 in Winnipeg for the Gold Medal Game...USA vs Canada.

Wonder what the attendance was for tonight's game?

If this tournament was held in a large venue in the US is there reason to believe that attendance would be similar? If so, I imagine it would depend on location...maybe Minneapolis or Boston.

While the atmosphere was historic (as in historic barn) in Burlington last year I kind of thought that it was a disservice to the tournament since the venue was so small.

Not in Minneapolis. Maybe if you held it in Madison, had free admission and gave the people free custard. Not sure about Boston. Does anyone know what the biggest all-time crowd is in Boston for any women's hockey event?

They set that record because the provincial championships started that day and they got just about every team playing to show up and fill the place. Completely filled the place with preteen screams.

They also bussed in school kids for the day games to fill it up more.

Whatever the attendance was for the women's Frozen Four in 2009. I don't think you could hold it in Boston at this time of year and get much more than 4K, and a great deal of those would be Canadians, as they were in Burlington.
