2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

Played Dooks yesterday. The oldest course in Ireland they say. A very challenging course with not a single patch of flat ground anywhere. Did not score well, but the weather was terrible, driving rain, wind, and 40 degrees for a high.

Might have time for one more round this week.

Did the locals think it was balmy?

My Golf Smith order's expected ship date of May 29 had better be a classic example of under promise and over deliver.

Lindsay Vonn officially announces the worst kept secret of the golf season. She is dating Tiger. No wonder he is winning ;)

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

So I was debating about heading out to the golf course today (Plum Creek - Castle Rock), but I was hesitant because of the temps (low 40s, but sunny). Long story short, I go and play, and play my best round ever. I was consistent off the tee, hitting it around 225-250 yards (long for me). My approach shots were very solid, and although not always very close to the pin, I hit a lot of great lag putts for easy pars/bogeys. I also managed to hit a handful of putts for par saves and two birdies. Out in 39, In in 39, and a lifetime best 78.

I love golf*

* Check back with me tomorrow as I'm planning on heading out again. :p:D:D

Stop it, stop it! :p

Where's Plum Creek in relation to Castle Pines? Loved playing there on media days for the International.

Penn State Golf Course was to open today, instead we get another blast of winter.

Off topic a bit, but it was nice to hear you on Penguins radio on Sunday.

The country club I work at was open March 15th last year. With the looks of it, we may be opening at least a few days past the first.

Thanks -- Grover sprung that on me with about 7 minutes left in the first period. But I had fun and always like to pump the Nittany Lions! :)

Back on topic.
Got a call from Marriott. Can get 4 days / 3 nites @ Hilton Head (8/10 -> 3/20) at the Marriott Resort right next to the Palmetto Golf Club for $199. $200 more if I go in-season.

Tell me about Hilton Head. How's the golf if you're a 20 handicap? And, what's to do besides golf? Bringing the bride and she does not golf.

Haven't been there, but I'm a 17 hdcp and I'd go just to get away from this spring weather! ;)

I know some folks who have places there. Terry Pegula has a condo on the island -- apparently bigger than most people's houses. :D

I want to take Mrs. P on a mid-week golf getaway next month. Would like to drive no more than 5 or 6 hours, so that rules out Myrtle (10 hours from here).

Anyone have any suggestions in Va or NC? Not sure about April weather in Ocean City Md. We did Luray Va a few years back, but there's not much to do other than play the one course.

Plum Creek is on the south side Castle Rock. It's about 4 exits further south on I-25. Pete Dye Course.

Mid April is a crapshoot in MD. It can be in the 70's and great or in the 50's and poopy. However, OC is not a bad bet that time of year unless there's a Nor'easter. Now, if you want to visit the Nation's Capital, there are plenty of nice courses that won't break the bank account in Montgomery County, MD (www.mcggolf.com).
