2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

Pretty cool design options with the new Callaway Razr Fit Xtreme Driver...l

First thing that caught my eye was how this can be customized to reflect sports teams... Not a bad deal... Hoping I can get some time to hit one at work to see how it compares to my R-11... Looking more and more like I'm not going to get in with any discounts on Taylor Made, so that pretty much eliminates them for possible upgrades.. Might be worth picking up...

Also, the new Nike Covert is one funky looking driver... It looks like Bruce the shark came up and took a chunk out of the *** end of the driver... Also want to find time at work to see if the idea of a cavity back driver has any merit... Haven't seen anything decent from Nike so far, so very skeptical...

Supposed to be 78 and partly cloudy tomorrow in Tampa. Suffice to say I have a 1245 tee time. Maybe I'll actually put it together for a round.

Playing at the course that is quickly becoming my favorite in Tampa (at a reasonable price): Bloomingdale Golfers Club. Has hosted Q school events, Florida amateurs, etc. Real nice course.

lets say you live in a less temperate area and due to cold and snow you haven't swung a club in a few months...if you were heading someplace warm and had 1 day free, would you play a round knowing you are rusty etc.; would you hit the range at a nice course just to get a few swings in or would you just skip it and wait til you could get some practice in at home?

Range and maybe a lesson in the AM, at least nine after lunch.

I'm going to be in Chicago the first week of March for the ACHA National Tournament. I'm going to throw my clubs in the trunk because I know there's a 2-level heated driving range near the Edge in Bensenville. :)

You're not in it, are you? Did your D2 team move up to D1?

Good for you! Will it be FreeView or PPV?

It's on Fast Hockey, but I'm not sure if it's free or PPV. The last couple of years it was free because of sponsorship.

OK Thanks!

Meanwhile one of the Harmon brothers recommends swinging the golf clubs 100x a day during the off season.

Gotta play. No decision needed

I did, played 18 at the Arizona Biltmore. Course wasn't that hard but it was convenient. They paired me with two locals which was great since they knew the course. Rented Ping G20 clubs, they were ok but I play a much thinner blade normally...this really showed up chipping around the green.

Par on 8 holes, bogey on 5 and 5 doubles including the first two holes while I was still working out the swing.

Glad I did it. Figured if I didn't I couldn't come back on here for a while.

The people out here think 50 is cold, guys in front of us had wind pants over their long pants, jackets zipped up to chin etc. I played in a short sleeve shirt.

That's hilarious.!!! I'll take 50 over 90 any time.

I don't particularly like heat, but I'm a better (not good--better) golfer when it's hot for some reason, even though am a walker. Just looser and probably a little more tired and less apt to swing too hard, I suppose.

Maybe it's the extra pops I drink that help. :)

70ish is about perfect.

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

I've noticed that around here (Michigan) the courses keep the greens fees low, but charge like 15 dollars for a cart, so I've started walking more. I haven't done it when it's 90 degrees out though. Still our greens fees are particularly low which I like. You can play a championship course for 50 bucks or less.
