2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

Phillip finally gets himself a British Open. He's on a hell of a roll right now.

66 on a Sunday of a major?!?!

Very happy for Phil. I certainly wasn't expecting him to do much this weekend. It seemed like this tournament got out of hand so quickly. For awhile, there were probably 8-10 players within 2 shots. Then Mickelson birdies 17 and 18 in about 25 minutes to get to 3 under, and the tournament was basically over.

I always like seeing Americans win the British Open, but especially after a Brit won the US.

I'm not a Lefty fan but what a round
I never have been either, but he looked like Jack Nicklaus today... went out and took it.
Mickelson is developing a killer instinct... keep that up and I'll become a Phil fan.

He's the first to win the Scottish and The Open back to back.

And the Scottish Open was his first win in Europe in 20 years. Way to go Phil! I'm bummed I missed all the action :(

I think blondes and Ambien have taken its toll on Tiger, he may be the best ever but he ain't getting to 19 major wins

I'm not sure. Time is obviously passing him, however looking at the future sites:

Next two British Opens are at Hoylake and St. Andrews. He has won at each. It then goes to Royal Troon.

Next few US Opens include Pinehurst and Oakmont, with 2 other courses who have never hosted the US Open previously.

Next few PGA's include: Oak Hill this year, Valhalla (Tiger has won here), Whistling Straits and Baltrusrol, all courses tiger has experience at.

And of course, while Tiger hasn't played particularly well at the lengthened and narrower Masters, he has been in the hunt a few times.

If Tiger has his game on for even 50% of these, he could knock out 2-3 majors, maybe more, maybe less, maybe none. But I'm not going to wrote him off just yet.

The problems for Tiger are also mounting.

-The competition is stronger than its ever been during his tenure
-His ball striking is solid but nowhere near as consistent, especially off the tee.
-Adding onto that point, he used to feast off hitting driver and snuggling up close - even from the rough - with a short iron, but he keeps his driver in his bag a lot effectively neutering the advantage he used to have.
-And he's no longer lights out with his putter.

I'm not saying we won't win another major, but I don't like his chances to catch Jack.

Loved seeing Phil win. Clapped when the ball went in the cup at 18.
Something about Lefty is just lovable--big kid, come backs, crazy shots, shambles aroud the course.

I don't want him to. And while it might seem spiteful, I'd like him to get close enough that the message is...if he hadn't been such a terrible father and husband he might have played more in that period of time and won the 1-2 he needed to catch or pass Jack.

At least some n'er do well athletes make no bones about their behavior, he was a liar, a cheat and a coward...still figuring there is a paternity suit out there somewhere...how could that collection of bimbos, whores and sluts not manage to get one meal ticket out of him?

Oh yeah, not a huge Phil fan but he is a nice guy and certainly has paid his dues in majors...so glad to see he won it vs. backed into it.

Over at www.pga.com one can vote on the pin placement for the final round at the Par-3 15th of the PGA Championship.

I went with location C.

C is the popular choice. I went with A though. Both the bunker and water come into play there and with it being a little narrower there a little left or right could be bad...as could short. C would still be ok though.

They all look very challenging. A is interesting, and if there was a false front, I may have gone with that option. I thought C had the most difficult placement for getting a birdie, as the ideal landing zone was the smallest. That is why I went with C.

Me too. I want bad shots punished.

(In terms of my game, I guess I am a glutton for punishment)

Ordered 3 #bucciovertimechallenge ball markers, to be delivered to my PO box. Check it today when I got home from the boat, and I find a 3/4 open envelope, and no ball markers. Hope somebody feels real tough stealing from a charitable cause.

Should've posted this Monday, but serious congrats to Phil. To win the British at age 43 is outstanding. The US Open has eluded the guy so many times, and now he almost trumps all of that with the "British" (played in Scotland :p).

That's why its not actually called "The British Open". Its The Open Championship. "British Open" is what people that don't know much about golf call it. ;)
