2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

I'm sitting in shuttle lot, trying to decide if I go or not. Obviously want to and can stay in tent, but seems like a huge hassle if they are going to call it off or play intermittently

you go booze in the tent.... geez :D

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

mookie loves Phily!!! hope he wins! (not to be confused with... mookie hates philly, nearby where they playin ;))

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

Play suspended again. Rain was coming down and it looks like some heavier stuff was moving in, probably some lightning around too.

Does look like the rain has picked up. If it moves through quick and there is no lightning they will probably get a few more holes in before dark. LOTS of golf to be played tomorrow.

Edit: players being held in place as they hope this will be a short delay.

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

We are underway. Donald droped a shot and is tied with Phil and about to finish his round. A little cool out there. Greens look like they are getting a bit quicker. A bit of wind is firming up the greens some. We very well may see a higher score win this thing as I had hoped. But if Phil (or anyone) can play like he did yesterday and just hit fairways and greens under par is certainly possible. Just have to avoid that rough and keep the ball on the green.

Curious to see what the pin location will be on the 13th. Im sure they left it until everyone has played their first round but I wonder if they will change it for round 2. Several guys were close to getting the ace their yesterday.

On a side note, while I appreciate the history of the wicker sticks, I hate them. They look goofy and with them being made of steel and thicker it has cause some bad luck for some players (Westwood namely). Speaking of Westwood, heck of a shot from the sand just now.

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

Darn, Donald drops another shot with a missed par put on the 18th.

Phil should have gotten on a plane last night and just had it fly him around all night.

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

Wind, thick rough and fescue, deep bunkers, and drying faster greens. Things are getting more interesting now. Mistake free golf will be a must.

Agreed. This should be a fun day of golf. Only 5 players under par in the first round, but 12 are even par. Add another 17 at +1, and things are pretty bunched up. Looking forward to see what the leaderboard looks like in about 10 hours.

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

They moved the 13th pin to the back. Looks like its on the top of a downward slope. Probably going to be much more difficult to be agressive and go right for it unlike in the first round where a lot of guys put it within a few feet.

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

Luke Donald with a heck of a chip from the rough for birdie on said 13th. Now takes the lead at -4 under. How long will that last?

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

Did anyone else see that putt by Senden? Had to be like 20-30 feet (maybe more) off the green and it broke a TON. Heck of a putt.

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

By the time he tees off this afternoon, Phil could be the only person still under par. Only 4 guys under par right now. One guy at -1 tees off just before Phil, Donald is going to drop a shot or two here soon. And the last is sitting at -1 through 5 holes today.

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

Well, when I left to run some errands a bit ago it was 4 guys under par for the tournament. Now its 3. Two of them have yet to tee off and the 3rd guy is not one of the ones from earlier (third guy is -3 after 11 holes, Billy Horschel).

Projected cut currently at +4 which means that currently defending champ Webb Simpson and Masters champ Adam Scott would miss the cut.

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

Billy Horschel finishes round -3 and is -1 for the tournament. The big stat for him...all 18 greens in regulation. If he can continue doing that he will put himself in a position to win.

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

And at 7:53 eastern on Friday afternoon, if you had 1 person under par in the US Open... well, you're a better predictor than 99.99 percent of people.

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

Billy Horschel now the only player under par though there are several on the course at even (7 or 8 guys), some of whom will finish round 2 tomorrow morning. It is very possible that Billy will start the 3rd as the ONLY player under par. If he continues to hit greens like he did (all 18, first guy in like 15 or 20 years to do that at the US Open) he will continue to lead.

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

Projected cut now at +7 which if it holds means Bubba Watson, Adam Scott, and Lee Westwood would all now make the cut (though Watson is still out there and could screw it up). A couple of amateurs looking like they will make the cut including Pan who is at E. Other than Pan, looks like everyone at par or better is US or England.

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

Cut ends up at +8. 12:30 are the first tee times for round 3.

It appears that we continue with threesomes today (It appears due to the finishing of round 2, they cannot send twosomes off and complete in time). Notables: Leaders @ 2:40, Tiger and Rory paired up again at 1:56, Adam Scott and Bubba at 1:01, current low am Kim @ 1:01.

4 Amateurs made the cut, with Chris Williams missing it by 1 shot.

Sounds like Davis has moved a couple tees into "dangle the carrot in front of their nose" range. Could be some guys taking a shot at driving some of the short par 4's, and maybe trying to go for the par 5's in two.

One analyst thinks 67 is the benchmark for a great score, the other said with things firming up, an EVEN PAR 70 would be a great score.

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

Sergio just hit 3 balls OB left on 15. Finally out in the fairway, about to hit his 8th to the green.

EAT. MOAR. CHIKIN'.
