This may not be a popular opinion, but... I don't think Schwartz is a bad coach. I don't think *all* of his scemes and ideas were bad. Of course, there were good numbers of bonehead calls. But too many times I thought the effort wasn't quite there- should have been tackles and catches and runs etc. I think he lost the team. And even though this is professional football, the relationship between the coaches and players does matter.
Schwartz isn't a great coach, sure, but good enough that had the team executed a little more often, they would be in the playoffs regularly.
Which illustrates a core problem with the Lions- for a reason I can't really understand, the decades of futility requires a coach better than average to make a team of above average talent to just be average. Odd, but that's how it is.
