2013-2014 D3 Commitments

She kept up with Gendreau and then some when she was in high school who will be a junior for the Cobbers next year.

Once the season starts next year we will enjoy your unbiased updates of games. But for now your info is out there and lets move on I recall a couple of postings last year about how much of an impact two d3 recruit players (d1caliber to boot) were going to have on a team. I just checked , they still .finished last with one less victory. ) Just hope your d's team is able to get a few more quality players to make that team competitive in that conference.

Excuse me if I'm optimistic. They seem to be doing fairly decent this year. Looking forward to my daughters new chapter in her hockey career.

Wesleyan didn't really improve significantly even with the two new "D1 level" recruits and Ashleigh Corvi playing unbelievably in net. Now that she is graduating, they will have to really bring in some players to even maintain their level of play.

Remind her to enjoy everything, because it goes by way too fast.
Oh how we both know Hammer. I can still remember taking her skating for the first time when she was 4. I knew right then I had a hockey player. Didn't want any help after about 10 minutes on the ice. Seems like yesterday.

Good luck to her at CM. Is she similar to Bri Flynn and Nicole Novak?
respect both those girls and they are both great kids. Amber is a better all around player. Flynn has a great shot and Novak sees the ice so well. Not sure where they are going next year.

Re: 2013-2014 D3 Commitments

Amber Schaack has committed to Concordia(MN). Currently a senior for Jamestown,ND High. Should be player of the year for the state of North Dakota this year. Was looked at by a half dozen D1 schools including UND.

I thought this a curious post when i first saw it and find it even more curious now that I understand you are a coach. I would think that a significant number of DIII players were "looked at by DI schools". Of the girls I am familiar with who were good enough to make a difference at the upper echelon of DIII, more than half of them were "looked at" by DI programs. Lots of them choose DIII even when they had an opportunity to go DI. So what? Good luck to your D, but give her the chance to make her own mark.

Wow. I stated a fact. Nothing more. Lot of sensitive people on here. She has done her own thing since she first laced em up and she will continue to.

Re: 2013-2014 D3 Commitments

I hope that Wesleyan improves next season. Their coach is a great person and the girls that she has coached in camps really like her.

Coach/Dad - I don't think that anyone has any issues with Amber or her skill level - I'm sure the VAST majority of folks on this board have never seen her play and it seems likely from the press that everything you write is true. But there is a fair amount of legitimate suspicion around a parent (even a coach parent) advocating for their daughter on this board whether "facts" or not. Regardless of whether you are qualified or not (and you certainly seem to be as a successful high school coach), you comparing her favorably against other girls and putting her forth as the likely candidate for ND player of the year rings kind of hollow to those of us who have spent years hearing other parents over-playing their kid's abilities. I would guess that is where some of the other posters are coming from. However, I'm sure that everyone wishes her nothing but success and happiness at Concordia in the future.

I guess if being a proud dad/coach rubs folks the wrong way so be it. I've been around this game for 45 years and have coached for over 25 years. I know a little bit about ones ability but I can see why a few folks don't take me to seriously since I am her dad. She worked her tail iff to get where she is and deserves a few accolades.

Re: 2013-2014 D3 Commitments

I will second that motion. HockeyEast are most of the ne prep girls finished their decision making process. Or are there still a few talented players undeclared.

I can think of a few good senior players around NE that are still unlisted either here or on the D1 thread - at least 1 very good goalie that I'm hearing is going to do a post grad year and several other players. Obviously reluctant to list names at this point....... suspect they mostly have gotten into a school via early action or rolling admission but are waiting to see if a Div 1 slot opens up late OR a better academic admission awaits them next month in the regular admissions process.

Maybe you haven't heard....if you get in early admit....you have signed a binding contract to attend [and withdraw all other applications]....so you're high...there won't be any D1 available to anyone accepted ED.

Re: 2013-2014 D3 Commitments

Wesleyan didn't really improve significantly even with the two new "D1 level" recruits and Ashleigh Corvi playing unbelievably in net. Now that she is graduating, they will have to really bring in some players to even maintain their level of play.

LM had a very strong season as a frosh. the FR goalie is a mystery....is more talented than the SR who is graduating but never played...perhaps she was hurt....

Not necessarily so. There is a distinction between "early action" and "early decision." Generally, "early decision" is a commitment, while "early action" is not.

She was totally healthy all season.

It was clear to anyone who watched them play that Corvi had more than earned the huge number of minutes she played. Without her tremendous ability and level of play, Wesleyan's poor record over the past 4 years would have been worse. Simply put, she was great.

You are flat out wrong. Early Action is NOT a binding commitment anywhere - that is Early Decision. EA gives you an early acceptance and allows you to wait until April or May to decide after all of your regular decision application results are known. That is pretty basic college admissions these days. Kids sometimes apply Early Action (or in rolling admissions) to one or two schools to get an acceptance under their belt while waiting for regular admission decisions elsewhere at schools that are more of a reach for them.

With respect to Wesleyan, Laura Mead appears to have had a good freshman season for them but they are still a last place team even with her - they will need more help. Ashleigh Corvi was unbelievable for 4 years there in net and earned every second she played - a noteworthy career. That being said, I'm sure that if Coach McKenna thought one of the 2 freshman goalies would have given the team a better chance to win they would have played - clearly she did not feel that way. One of the 2 freshman had a much lower save percentage than Corvi in the 4 games she played, the other one only played two games - so the jury is definitely still out on them (not sure which is the one that you think is better than Corvi).

Crosscheck, you continue to be abusive and often wrong on facts (not opinions). We don't know what makes you so angry, but please continue to rant on.
