2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Nice way to bounce back from last weekend.

Big one tomorrow night to go into the Conf. Tourney on a high.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Boy, the Larries should did look, err, irrelevant tonight ;)

Go Bobcats

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Great win tonight to get back on track. This was much needed after 4 losses in 5 games. Nice to get JST back tonight. Defense was great even with Connor Clifton and Federico. Let's finish the regular season strong tomorrow night.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Getting back to last night's game. One thing I loved to see is Matthew Peca is starting to heat up just at the right time.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Some team stats after last nights game

3rd in team offense in the country (literally right behind Union and another offensive outburst would likely pass them)
Tied for 2nd in team defense in the country with Minnesota and only behind Lowell
6th ranked PP in the country at 22.8%
1st ranked PK tied with BC at 91.2%

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Hopefully they saved some goals for tonight. Clarkson is still battling for a top 4 finish and will be extremely hungry on their home ice, while we still have a chance to get back to 2nd. We're still very thin defensively so it will be a much tougher match up. The D needs hunker down and limit Clarkson's chances. Garteig needs to have another great effort as he may have to make up for defensive miscues. Most importantly, we need to stay out of the box. The offense needs to play with the same confidence they showed last night. Peca is smoking right now and that should inspire the rest of the guys. With JST back in the lineup we should have 2 solid lines and a 3rd that can make some noise. Let's end the regular season on a good note.

Go Q!

To me Clarkson beating Quinnipiac will require Clarkson's goalie (probably Lewis) standing on his head or the Clarkson defense shutting down the Quinnipiac scoring chances. Also Clarkson has to stay out of the penalty box. Clarkson is still missing Sexton and this REALLY hurts their offense and power play. I know last night they got 3 pp goals but Princeton's PP defense was awful and Quinnipiac's offense would have gone 6-6 against them. Hopefully it will not be a blow out like the SLU game.

Yeah that win we had in Hamden sure looked like an accident.....unfortunately our team is irrelevant at this point.

The one thing we loved was seeing the Q Pac bus leaving Appleton. Or are you so well funded these days do they travel in limo's? :)

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

The most satisfying part of the win last night was not hearing "got five, want one more" say a word.
Boys need to play hard but keep it clean tonight. We can't lose more bodies.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Also a congrats to the QU Women's team for their sweep of SLU to make the ECAC semis. There playing very well

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Final point of the season with the tie in Potsdam.

It was actually a pretty good game. Clarkson had the overall advantage but we hung in there (without JST) and were lucky to come out with the tie. Both teams had chances in the 3rd and again in OT.

Take the point, go home, and get ready for the quarterfinals in 2 weeks. The important thing is to get everyone healthy, notably JST and Federico. Connor Clifton played tonight and looked to be ok.

Congrats on another successful regular season. Go get 'em in the playoffs!

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Pretty good weekend with three points on the road. If I have figured this out correctly, and the higher seeds win in the first round in the ECAC playoffs, the second round has Yale at Quinnipiac.

That would be correct, but I think Yale is going to have their hands full with Harvard (or at least one can hope ;) ).

C'mon guys, you have our number this year!

Boy was I surprised. Clarkson's goalie DID NOT have to stand on his head. Perry made a couple of nice saves but for the most part was not tested. Clarkson blocked shots, tipped shots away with their sticks and all in all did not let your Big Guns get good looks. On the other end Garteig was spectacular in goal and had at least five stops that had goal written all over them and the Quinnipiac defense cleared at least 2 pucks that were in the crease and could have rolled in. Garteig was the Big Reason Quinnipiac did not lose this one.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Recruit Stats from March 1st games

BCHL
Landon Smith 2 assists (season is complete as Salmon didn't make the playoffs, tied for the league lead in scoring at 43 goals and 40 assists. See you in Hamden in the fall)

Canon Pieper 1 goal 1 assist (season over team in the playoffs, finished 33 goals and 33 assists good for 8th in scoring. See you in Hamden in 2014)

Bo Pieper 2 goals (season over team in playoffs, finished with 27 goals and 32 assists good for 15th in scoring. See you in Hamden in 2014)

Scott Davidson 2 assists (season is complete as Trail didn't make the playoffs and he finished with 16 goals and 19. Its possible he will come to Hamden in the fall but is another player who could benefit from another season in the BCHL at the age of 19.)

Craig Martin 0 points (season complete team headed to playoffs but he finished with 13 goals and 16 assists. He would be better served with one more season in the BCHL at age 19)

Logan Mick 0 points (season over team in playoffs, finished with 7 goals and 5 assists, listed for 2015-16 but he needs much more development next season in order for that to happen. Possibly could be pushed to 2016-17.)

Jonah and Nathan Renouf were off. Both had good seasons. Jonah finished at 20 goals and 41 assists and Nathan at 15 goals and 34 assists while missing 18 games.

AJHL
Andrew Taverner, Nelson Gadoury and Tanner MacMaster all played and recorded no points.

Playoff time in the AJHL

USHL
Vince Pedrie 0 points in 4-1 win

USPHL
Kevin McKernan 0 points
Sean Lawrence 22 saves on 23 shots in 3-1 win in the playoffs over Portland Jr. Pirates
Chase Priskie 1 goal for Selects as team moves to Championship game
Alex Whelan 1 goal and 2 assists as he outshines John DeRoche and gets the 6-1 win
John DeRoche 1 assist in loss to NJ Hitmen
