2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Needs zero pull as long as his team is No. 1 in the nation.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Wouldn't be suprised in that scenario if BC goes to Bridgeport to play Yale and Union goes to Worcester as the 1. Plenty of HE teams going to make tourney that could land in Worcester to help attendance.
Really cant see that happening. The committee usually will put the better seed closer to home. I cant see them factoring in the bottom 3 seeds in a region as to where the top seed goes. Would be the other way.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

That is also true but I am wondering how much pull Jerry York has with the NCAA in order to remain in Worcester.

Biggest fan base, biggest rink is my guess, at 8K you will get plenty of locals showing up at Bridgeport, attendance there has really never been a problem, no matter who plays. They averaged 5K with Lowell and union in the house in 2012. Although they did average over 8k with Yale there in 2009 and 2011. good article here. http://toledoblade.typepad.com/falc...ncaa-regional-hockey-attendance-concerns.html

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

I can't even bother thinking about NCAAs right now. Somehow we managed to stay in the top eight of the PairWise after that disastrous weekend, which means the bottom is ready to fall out if this weekend is a one- or no-point trip. (By the way, PairWise is not based on reputation in any way -- figured that should be clarified for previous posters who think so.)

I hope JST can get back for ECACs. I thought that's what I heard was going to be the case -- it would be really helpful to get him these two games this weekend. His absence is extremely notable. We noticed it mostly at the lack of ability to keep the puck in the zone against Colgate. JST is great at operating from behind the net and being a physical presence who keeps puck possession. While the Joneses, Peca and Anas are supremely talented with their sticks, they go down awfully easy in the zone. JST and BVB are huge in keeping things alive in the zone, and that was missing Saturday.

The true reason for last weekend's debacle was Larson wearing that Brandon Wong jersey. Way too many 2009-10 vibes in that place to kill us at this point. I'm just happy he won't be spotted in an arena anytime soon to keep ruining the mojo.

I may head to the Yale-Union game on Friday night. Go Dutchmen!

#brendanmason'd

The jersey has been retired. This is actually Larson's Dad speaking ... Larson jumped off the local bridge on Sunday when he came home. At least he got to Sidestreet one last time before it all ended.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Jason Moy still has us in Bridgeport in this week's Bracketology.

Of course, that's if the season ended today. A lot of hockey left so the only real option for us is to win... win and let the chips fall where they may.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

I don't mind a 2-seed, as long as it's us and Lowell in that group. If another northeastern team (Northeastern, Cornell, Vermont, Colgate) sneaks above us, it's a see-ya-later for the Bobcats. If somehow we can get a sweep this weekend, I think we'll be OK.

Since Larson is no longer with us ... Hey, Dad, can I get his jerseys? (You can keep Wong.)

You can take the jerseys, I'll take the drum set #ShowMeTheCookies @Sec112Supporters

Also, Thx, I think you are sounding a little too grim about this team. While I agree that they showed nothing over the weekend to warrant optimism, we all have seen what this team is capable of doing when everything clicks. Getting JST back will be huge for this team, but I think they just need a confidence booster. Forgetting about JST for a second, if they can walk away from North Country this weekend with four points, I think you'll see a revamped team come ECACs.

They need to get some of their #swag back

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Wednesday Night Recruit Stats

BCHL
Scott Davidson 2 goals 2 assists
Logan Mick 1 goal
Landon Smith 0 goals or assists last night

AJHL
Both Tanner MacMaster and Nelson Gadoury returned to the lineup for Camrose but neither registered a point.

They do call me the Whimsical Grimsicle.

They just had a zero-point home weekend and you're thinking about four points up yonder? Bless you, Bongos.

I'll take at least 2 points any way they can get them just to lock up a bye.

The only way Cornell or Colgate can get above Q after this weekend is if Q loses. Our weekend opponents have low RPI and won't help with PWR at all.

Even with one loss, since Q plays U they would probably still stay fairly high in PWR.

Always thinking big my friend. I'll obviously take two points, but four would be huge in terms of confidence heading into the conference tournament.

By the way, I know someone who would be more than happy to share your mindset ;)

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Just got home from work and saw the end of the second ... Let's hope it holds. 4-4 on the PP!?! Like they are rising from the dead ... I hope!

And that's without Federico and Connor Clifton. JST is back but has been a non-factor thus far.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Peca has 2 goals and 2 assists putting him in the 100 point club! Congrats Matt!

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Well I had fun watching that last period. Great job tonight boys! Time for bed and then back to work in a few hours. Dig me up ... I'm alive!

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Important win, great team effort. Five power play goals.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Excellent game by the Bobcats. Garteig with the shutout, Peca joins the 100-pt club, 5-6 on the PP, perfect on the PK. Just a good all-around effort. Considering 2 of our top D weren't on the ice makes it even more impressive.

Rest and move up the road to Potsdam tomorrow.
