Re: 2012 Presidential Election Part III: October Surprise!

I heard that same set of sentences a couple of weeks ago, only with a different name.

Hardly. Every left leaning individual on the planet knows that their candidate can't fight and win, they have to win by accident.

Final casualty figures from Chicago: 2 dead, 24 wounded in mostly gang-related shootings Saturday night. Well, His Oneness probably has debate prep on his mind and is too busy to comment.

No mention of Obama's campaign office getting shot at Opie? I mean, seeing as you're soooo concerned with gun violence, which apparently just started happening once Obama was elected President...

relax, step away from the edge. Obama still has an insurmountable lead in the ECV, and the Romney bounce has peaked. Remember that the media has an interest in making it sound like a contest to get people watching/reading/buying, even though the race has virtually been over for a year.

With the Libya press and the economy being like it is Romney would have to be a complete moron to lose the election.

relax, geezer, Scooby's just a professional sand bagger. He doesn't mean 53% of what comes out of his keyboard.

At this point both Intrade and Fivethirtyeight have Obama holding at just over a 60/40 likelihood.

That's a bit counter intuitive. I'd have thought it would be even, if not a slight serviceman advantage for Romney.

I'm thinking younger voters are more apt to take advantage of new voting laws, while seniors who lean Romney's way will most likely stick with the first Tuesday in November because that's what the've known all their life.

Good call...technology and process innovation.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election Part III: October Surprise!

Which doesn't make any sense.

Maybe you meant majority of voters instead of Romney? Getting Obama elected the first time and getting Romney through the primaries is a prime example.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election Part III: October Surprise!

It makes perfect sense. You say Romney has to be a complete moron to lose. Romney has periods where he's a complete moron, therefore he can still lose. This isn't astrophysics. You have a President with ~48-52% approval and a country where people are perennially convinced we're going in the wrong direction and a subpar candidate who got a massive boost two weeks ago when he looked semi-competent for the first time in months on the same stage as his opponent. If he manages that two more times, he'll likely win. Obama has to make him look incompetent again somehow.

Its hilarious to say that he needs to pull a Biden....but he needs to pull a Biden. Not an overwhelming debate victory, but he needs to do what his VP did, which is call out to Romney's face blatant hypocrisy and unworkable ideas. Romney brings up trade with China? Bring up Romney outsourcing jobs to China. Romney brings up the deficit? Ask him how his tax plan differs from George W Bush's. Romney brings up Libya? Ask him how much experience he has managing foreign affairs.

Obama doesn't need to rip Romney to shreds any more than Biden went after Ryan. But he needs to drop the hammer when appropriate. One bad debate performance can be chalked up to rust. Two bad ones in a row becomes a pattern and a damaging narrative for the media and the country to play into.

“If you can’t beat Barack Obama with this record, then shut down the party,” she said. “Shut it down, start new, with new people because this is a give-me election, or at least it should be.”

I don't see where Laura Ingraham is wrong.

That's probably not the best idea for Obama.
