2012 Presidential Election Part III: October Surprise!

Re: 2012 Presidential Election Part III: October Surprise!

Doesn't everyone really have a dog in the hunt? I mean, deep down, doesn't just about everyone simply vote for whomever they feel is going to do best for them individually? Or do many vote based on who they feel will be best for the rest of the people?

I tend to vote against the one who will bone me the most. But then again, I've become so cynical that I'm starting to make Scooby look like the eternal optimist.

I don't think either of them will do any better for me. I knew GW would destroy everything but no one else seemed to care. Who do I vote for? Thinking maybe of writing my dog in this year. Last time it was a random celebrity.

The difference is in 2008 when Obama promised a pony, his plan wasn't to simultaneously round up all the ponies and harvest them for glue.

This year i am pretty sure I will be voting against every incumbant I can-not a single one of them has done anything to help my personal situation. Probably will turn out to be more important or effective in my local election but "if they aren't for me they are against me"!(wasn't that what Messala said to Judah Ben-Hur?):)

Re: 2012 Presidential Election Part III: October Surprise!

wasn't that what Messala said to Judah Ben-Hur? :)

How'd that work out for him?

My advice is pick a side rather than just spray bullets. Giving one side or the other the keys will make something happens. Look at Dubya -- something happened alright!

The problem is the kids aren't mature enough for mixed government. So unmix it.

I find it hard to pick a side-there is something about each race that has me leaning one way or the other. I do not just vote a ticket. I may be in the minority but I actually try to understand how each candidate affects me in each race. I read each issue on the ballot up for vote (even the ones i don't quite understand fully). It is not unusual for me to vote for some members of one party and some members of another party-or even to skip some of the races completely when neither seems to make sense.

I'm with you on this, but unfortunately in DC it doesn't work that way right now -- you are voting for a party bloc, not an individual. I wish it was different and am old enough to remember when it was. It still is at the state and local level.

Unfortunately things have gotten so bad in DC that I can't imagine voting for any Republican right now because the national party is so nuts. There's no way I'd give them another seat to play around with. That wasn't true a decade ago and it probably won't be a decade hence, but for now they're just poison the country can't swallow.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election Part III: October Surprise!

It was Carol Moseley Braun (D-Moron) who first adduced a "right not to be offended," on the floor of the Senate. His Islamistness went one step further, and gave credence to that nonsense with a full on grovel in front of the UN. "The future must not belong to those who would slander the prophet of Islam." How about this, the prophet of Islam is a baby raping, pork eating, dog loving, wife abusing schmuck and you're a "criminally weak sister," Mr. President*

Are there any competitive races in DC? Just curious, as I generally wouldn't expect any.

To be honest I won't lose any sleep with either of them in the White House.

They're both smart. I think they're both hard workers.

Neither of them strike me as an individual who will get rattled under pressure.

Obama has a sort of cool, measured calmness. Romney strikes me as someone who, when it comes to finding solutions will just work the problem until he comes up with a plan.

They both seem to have great families, which tells me they must be doing something right. Neither strikes me as the type who will be a handpuppet for someone behind the scenes, nor the type who are going to get themselves into stupid situations that provide easy distractions for the public, press and opposition.

They both strike me as pragmatic. That is, if it becomes necessary to re-negotiate, to modify a previous position or promise, or to simply compromise because one half loaf is better than none at all, it's pretty clear both will do that. A willingness to do that, as opposed to a dogmatic, inflexible "my way or the highway" approach is something that's lacking in politics.

I'm going to pick one, because that's what we do. But those who claim the sky will fall if their candidate doesn't win is nuts. We could do a heck of a lot worse than either of these two.

To me, Obama's only unpardonable sin is being a White Sox fan. Lots of folks with whom I generally agree like to b*tch about him moving his mother-in-law into the WH. IMO, they're wrong. Having "meemaw" around to keep those girls on the straight and narrow and not get full of themselves is a pretty good idea. My bottom line? I don't want anymore "wise Latinas" on SCOTUS. At least not "wise Latinas" appointed by him. And I don't want any more "leading from behind," especially if it leads to more murdered American diplomats.

I doubt it. The only competitiveness DC usually has is in the Dem primaries (although the inevitable arrest usually puts at least one city council position in play).

The Electorate has given the keys to one party in MD. How's that working out?

Re: 2012 Presidential Election Part III: October Surprise!

I'll post it tomorrow. John Stewart just explained the math that Romney and Ryan are talking about. I get it now. I understand why all you conservatives are so excited.

We're all waiting with great anticipation for any comment, no matter how trivial, that even hints of criticism of His Racistness. After all, you say you didn't vote for him last time. And imply you have no use for either one of the candidates. Yet, inexplicably, you only criticize one. Hmmmmmmmm.

And it surprises me not at all that Jon S. Liebowitz is your go to guy.
