Just a WAG, but I'd imagine the reason they don't return your calls is they really don't want depositors bringing in rolls of quarters.

Which was still 13%. It's not about begrudging his successes (more power to him) but that rate sticks a craw in many and for good reason. Why is that any criticism of that no matter how logical is so routinely rebutted with pure nonsense?

To me, nothing is funnier than this belief the media has a liberal slant. The Republicans have refused to work with Obama for four years. They filibustered almost everything for the first two, convinced voters that the Democrats weren't getting it done, that Obama was to blame, that THEIR individual mandate idea was socialist, got the House back, and then sat on their hands for two years. There is a minuscule amount in the media about this absurdity. It's Obama's fault...because he didn't have enough votes to over-ride their obstinance. How dare he not have 60 percent to over-ride things.

The media, on a whole, isn't liberal. MSNBC is unabashedly liberal.

I swear, for the party of the elite, conservatives find a way to play the victim card fairly regularly. The media isn't out to get you. How dare the liberal media ask a candidate what books she reads, as he tries to humanize her by helping her connect with people who read books!

Whats pure nonsense about Mitt following the letter of the law, I assume just like Obama did? Their accountants did their taxes getting them the least tax rate as they legally could. I don't pay any more than I have to, I doubt you do either, why should anyone else.

Which is why most people want to change the rules. It's absolutely asinine that someone making 13 some million dollars pays a rate that low. Especially when the clear majority is capital gains, dividends, and otherwise not subject to FICA.

If Romney had taken all of his allowed deductions (presuming he actually gave what his accountant says he gave to charity, which is admittedly a fairly big presumption), his effective tax rate would've been 9%. If you can't understand why people have a problem with that...

Are you saying you have any Indication whatsoever he didn't donate 13% of his income to charity? What's next, the wealthy don't donate their fair share either?

He paid millions in taxes. Instead of whining that he didn't pay enough why doesn't Obama do something about other people earning more? Or anything.

He has done a great job convincing people the issue is that wealthy people don't give them enough.

I don't have a problem with Romney's particular tax situation.

I disagree with the low taxation of earnings from money...while heavily taxing true labor at all brackets. This is the case in the US today with long term cap gains tax vs. 1099 income. If this was not the case, both would probably be paying higher taxes.

One thing to remember, though, is that qualified dividend money is actually getting taxed twice, because it is subject to the corporate tax before it even reaches the possibility of a dividend. Once you total it up, it's actually being taxed much more than wage income.

trust me, Romney could be paying a tiny, tiny percentage and it would STILL be a heck of a lot more than you pay. I was struck this week how far out of touch he is that a quarter million is nothing more than a feel-good rounding error on his taxes.

Ok, admittedly Paul Ryan seems to be the pathological liar in the group, but let's just say I'm going to need more than Romney's accountant's word on what his actual charitable donations were. Especially since Romney previously said:

I don't pay more than are legally due and frankly if I had paid more than are legally due I don't think I'd be qualified to become president.

So is he saying he's not qualified to become President? Or is his accountant misrepresenting how much he actually donated to charity? Or, behind door number 3, is this a political stunt and he'll be amending his return in, oh, 6 weeks to claim that extra deduction?
