So who picked the color schemes for the parties? The liberal media? I say that as someone who doesn't really believe that much of media is 'liberal'.

But anybody who picks red as the GOP's color has got to want to see the party go down in flames.

I always kind of thought the GOP somehow got away with one by getting red - I mean, would you rather have a red Ferrari or a blue one? Red is the color of flash and pizzazz and speed - nobody wants the blues.

('course, a Cornell fan MIGHT be biased...:))

It's actually quite new -- last 20 years or so. Before that, the networks chose the color on their electoral maps on election night and there was no standard. Eventually it became customary for the incumbent party to be red and the challenger blue. Then it became stuck the way it is now (perhaps when the GOP was incumbent for three straight elections?). It would have been better if the Dems were red, IMHO.

I had always wondered why hot chocolate was not considered a "hot drink". I've done some consulting for a software company in Provo, UT and the founders and about half of the workers are LDS. Instead of coffee pots they have hot chocolate machines in the common areas. It was a big deal when they had an open bar at dinner for the first time at the yearly user conference.

Actually, I don't hate government. I just hate politics. And politicians. Not the people themselves, just the actions they feel compelled to take to participate in politics. I'm just sick and tired of the endless parade of bribe offers in exchange for my vote.

Change it. I'm serious -- the only way the system changes is if smart people get involved and change it themselves.

25-30 years ago when I worked in the North Dakota Legislature I though it might be interesting. But I'm too old for the crap now. I've found that once you hit your 50's it's easier to just sit around and b@#%$. :p

Unless your state legislature gerrymanders the districts to make your state as one party as possible. We don't shoot the opposition in this country, we render them powerless through the gerrymander.

I feel the same way. My life is too precious to me to give to politics.

LOL. Coming from the right this ranks among the most ironic statements in history. :)

Pat's been mad for a decade that nobody cares what Pat thinks anymore. He should stick to talking about retiring the Empire -- at least he makes a scintilla of sense there.
