Re: 2012 Presidential Election Part 4

Did you happen to read the stuff after the comma? Why am I even asking?

Even that senile piece of garbage pio didn't want to try and touch that article, choosing instead to continue trying to slut shame a woman who's only "crime" was to not put an aspirin between her knees for healthcare.

So now "health care" and "rubbers" are synonymous? BTW, there's a well known alternative to using an aspirin:

"You want me to hold the chicken, huh?
I want you to hold it between your knees."

Love that '5 Easy Pieces' quote.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election Part 4

lets see if the Romney team actually makes the buy. I cannot believe MN would be in play. although Jill Biden is in the state today.
IMHO the money would be better spent in PA.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election Part 4

Republican Super Pacs are pulling from NC and pumping into the still swinging states. ok. two of the states they are getting ready to put big buys into ... Michigan and MINNESOTA. wow. geez, we could be talking landslide ....

You picked a poor week to stop sniffing bath salts.

This is funny. I got positive rep (anonymously) for this thread on the 19th, with the comment "You're such a child."

Re: 2012 Presidential Election Part 4

Are you insane? Romney is the spawn of Satan! He is a liar, cheat, thief, and crook! No right-thinking person of sound mind can possibly support him! You must either be deluded by his lies, crazy, or a liar cheat and crook yourself to support him!

Yah, to be expected...Pavlov would have been proud.

Perhaps I was too subtle before? I issued a challenge:

Can any of you provide a positive rationale why Obama should be elected, based solely on his own merits, without saying anything negative about his opponent?

So far, the answer has been a resounding 'NO!'

I gave an example of how a person could put forward a positive case for Romney without saying a single negative thing about Obama.

Now, the challenge remains, along with a question:

Are y'all just totally incapable of saying anything positive about anyone?

Or, are y'all just so totally brainwashed by Obama's unrelenting pessimism and cynicism that you are merely incapable of saying anything positive about him? After all, he doesn't appear to be able to say anything positive about himself....

Re: 2012 Presidential Election Part 4

This knuckledragger fest is hilarious. It almost sounds like you're trying pick up lines on each other!

A good sign of a campaign trying to win on something other than people liking their candidate is planting fake news stories.

So, a good example is the "Obama is pulling out FL and VA". Putting aside the fact that this story was started by a righty reporter, it makes no sense. With a hundred million dollars to spend, both candidates can only buy up so much airtime in Ohio or Colorado so why would you pull out of anywhere at this point if you were within striking distance? Its why I never understood Mittens not advertising in PA or MI. Really, what would he have had to lose?

Another is "Romney is surging". If he's surging, why can't his own pollsters put him up in swing states? Put it this way, if Rassmussen has a tie race anywhere between Obama and Mittens on election weekend, I'm going to feel good about that state. He's not going to outperform Razzy's #'s, but most likely he'll underperform them.

All in all, a lot of blah blah blah. You knucks' know what's coming on Election Day. ;)

It's called the flaws of the two-party system. It's much easier to get your opponent to lose and therefore win by disjunctive inference than it is to win. Certain hockey teams implore this strategy as well.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election Part 4

Fishy this is an easy one.

1) Country needs "grand bargain" approach to deficit reduction. Its the best way put forth so far to get combination of revenue increases and spending cuts without going to the extreme on one or the other.

2) Defense spending needs to be scaled back dramatically. Ending Afghanistan war while not getting involved in Syrian one goes a long way towards accomplishing that.

3) US needs to continue on path to doubling exports as stated by Obama. That's going to require specific policies that defend US industry, something this admin has been more willing than any other in recent memory to do. An exporting economy, as in the German model, is the way to go to increased job growth in this country.

4) Healthcare needs to finish its implementation so country can focus more on cutting costs. Once everybody insured, cost reductions can speed up. Going back to square one only makes the problem worse.

A state doesn't elect a Representative.

We also elected Tim Pawlenty to the Governor's mansion. Norm Coleman was as Senator. Both Neocon high spending conservatives. We like the high spending conservatives here. I'd be willing to bet Romney has a shot in Minnesota.

Name your price.

Generally, you are correct, although there are several states that have only one representative....currently, AK, DE, MT, ND, SD, VT, and WY. WY's statewide district might have the fewest voters of any congressional district, not sure about that though.

HI, ID, NH, RI have two districts.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election Part 4

Over-confidence can be a bad thing. ;)

The only way he's hurling money into states that he trails in every publicly available poll by 6-10 points is because they have cash left over after buying every available ad between now and Election Day in actual swing states.

There's just way too much in the way of public info at the national and even senate levels to really buy into "internal polling" from some blog. When half a dozen different groups are doing national polling and a similar number in most "close" states, some of them would catch this stuff.

And Minnesota is note one of those states.

How is Minnesota polling right now? I have to admit, it wouldn't surprise me if Minnesota went to Romney, but they have been trending towards the DFL lately.

Might just depend on how many of the 47% vote there.:)
