2012 Presidential Election Part 4

Re: 2012 Presidential Election Part 4

Obama called it a terrorist act from the get-go.

You do know that the moderator later retracted her statement during the debate stating that Romney was correct that Obama did not call it a terrorist act, yes? It was on her CNN show later that evening.

So Romney didn't care about who his lieutenant governor for four years was? More hilarious political drivel from you Scooby. You sure do try though to make something out of nothing. And you continue to hammer on Obama's talking points, regardless of how inaccurate some may be.

Nice deflection Bob, but the question in front of you is that Romney said he asked for a binder of qualified women during the debate, when in fact he did no such thing. What part of that are you having trouble with?

He was caught in a lie of questionable or no political value (wouldn't it be enough to say we hired a bunch of women?) and it deservedly came back to bite him. They are piling up. Meanwhile, Obama shows signs of growing a series of connecting calcified structures in his mid-back region, which would be nice.

If only there were a way to override a veto... if only there were something along the lines of Article I, Section 7, Clause 2 of the Constitution...

geezer I share your disgust of the trivial. However sometimes the trivial is used to make a larger point. A man in favor of the Blunt amendment and against or non-committal on equal pay for equal work has a certain set of beliefs. Whether or not a person agrees with those beliefs, him thinking of women as something to order out of a catalog when he needs them (cue somebody with a joke right here) succinctly sums up a narrative the Dems want to cement in the public's mind.

Howard Dean said it best upon taking over the DNC a half dozen years ago. When asked why the GOP was doing so well in campaigns he said "Republicans want to tell you one thing they know about a couple of issues. Democrats want to tell you everything they know about every issue." The O is taking a page out of the right's playbook on this one which is pretty amusing!

I don't think his habit of lying is trivial! The dems have a right and an obligation to make hay out of every stupid lie. Again, I say stupid because Romney had so little to gain from it; high risk/low reward. For some reason (incredible arrogance?) he doesn't seem to realize people will check on these things and hold them against him.

OK, taken way out of context, but is #42 getting his digs in for throwing wife under the bus?

The main reason why I don't mind sticking it to him on stuff like this is because he wasn't like this as Mass Gov. I was expecting maybe a more high minded campaign until he started with "death panels", "US unable to defend itself if START treaty ratified" and "economic growth will pay for tax cuts". Now its live by the sword, die by the sword.

No worries at all about one poll Flaggy. There were two things worrying me post 2nd debate. 1) The audience would be half the size of the 1st debate, thus nullifying the exposure Obama would get from winning, and 2) Dems would lose control of post debate spin for whatever reason.

Two days on from the debate, these worries have been answered. 2nd debate drew same audience as the 1st, and regardless of our own personal views, the dominant narrative coming out of that contest is Romney and his binder of women, followed by the moderator correcting him on his facts. I'm guessing post debate polls are going to reflect this.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election Part 4

A couple days ago, Gallup split their tracking poll regionally and had Obama up 4/4/6 in the East, Midwest and West, but down 22 in the South.

Since everyone already had practice flip flopping their opinions on the Debt ceiling and other things in 2009, it'd only be right to have a flip flop on who's outraged by winning the popular vote and possible losing the electoral vote at the same time.

Didn't that already happen? (Tilden/Hayes)

Sure, but everyone involved died before Bush/Gore occurred, so we didn't get to call them on it. 12 years later, we'll get a few months of each side finding old video of the other side raging in favor of the position they now oppose.

You speak with the same confidence you had in September that Obama would be using his can of whuppass during the election, until he fell on his face in Denver.

Given that I'm discussing the possibility of politicians looking like morons, yes I am. My confidence in the stupidity of man is rarely shaken.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election Part 4

Romney even lied about supporting Pell Grants. Another major middle class issue.

Too bad we couldn't give those out selectively based upon areas of study and return of investment instead of exclusively how much cash your folks made last year. The point of those things is to get a return on your investment in the form of tax dollars paid over the lifetime of the recipient. If I were an investor and was assigned to issue a grant for college, I'd sure as hell issue it to a computer science major over a history major. They make a heck of a lot more money.

If there's one thing the messiah dictator has going for him, it's that he tries to play the second sentence to his advantage. Unemployment is on the verge of reaching double digits, and he's standing in the rose garden cracking jokes at the press. There are serious concerns about a second bailout, and instead the news shows feature Obama's college basketball predictions. How about when we need to take some unpopular actions in the Middle East, and we need a cover-up, oh hey, how about we do it when Michael Jackson dies.

Of course, it could backfire, when a big debate came up around October 3rd, but instead of spending his time preparing for that, he spent his time trying to convince football referees to go back to work.

I don't have much confidence in the sheeple, ether.

We already do that via scholarships. One of my friends daughters is getting a full ride because she's female and wants to go to school for engineering.
